  • My function went really well!

First off, thanks 2big for your pm

I got back in the early hours of this morning. I ended up driving to avoid drinking wine (because of Atkins, and to stop me making a fool of myself when I'm drunk, killed 2 birds with one stone there! lol)

I was a bit scared about eating, as I arrived there and found out that it was a set meal, no options over what I wanted.

Starter was Leek and potato soup. I had a bit of it but left most of it, but it was good! I avoided the bread rolls though, hehe. Main course was Turkey and chestnut stuffing with vegetables and roast potatoes. Luckily, the majority of the plate was turkey, so I filled up on that, and then had one potato, but I got halfway into it and just didnt feel like it at all, GOAL! lol

Desert was christmas pudding and ice cream, and I just couldn't eat it, I was already full. Everybody was amazed at how little I ate in comparison to them, but it was so much food, and I just filled up!

But over dinner I managed to tell people all about Atkins, what I've been doing, my successes and weaknesses, and I think I changed a few people's minds about this WOE!

But food aside, it was a fun night

Glad you did well. Being the DD can keep anyone away from the alcohol.

FYI next time call ahead of time and ask about the food. most caterers can accomadate folk with special food needs because of health reasons and being healthy by eating your Atkins is a health need.

Thanks guys Next time I will call ahead just to vet it so I know where I stand. I had something to eat before I went anyway, not a lot, but some slices of chicken so that if all else failed I just wouldnt eat lol

There was a vegetarian option available on request, but it was potato based (not entirely sure what it was!)

Re: My function went really well!

Oh definitely! I'm so much happier with my appearance, but it's a wonder how I can turn away sweet stuff, or try to eat something I shouldnt and just have it taste disgusting!

The same with soda - I had some non diet the other day at work, and it was nasty! It really did taste like liquid sugar. I had one taste and passed it onto my friend lol

I know now that I will never want to go back to my old WOE!
