  • Help!!!

I am really disappointed with myself and afraid to get on the scale now. The week before Christmas I went on a 7 day cruise and totally blew the hardwork I put in. I managed to lose almost 10lbs during my induction phase right before the cruise. Well, I gained the 10lbs back when I returned from my vacation, so I said that I would start back on Atkins after Christmas. Christmas was yesterday and I was afraid to get on the scale. I have been eating and eating - cakes, cookies, pies..everything! I started on the induction this morning and I weighed myself...179...so that is not too bad, I thought i did more damage than that because I cannot fit anything and I feel like a fat slob w/ a double chin. I'm praying for strength to get through this and lose the weight i need to achieve my goal. I will rely on this board for strength because you guys have helped me before- this board is AWESOME! I also want to know if there is anyone in Maryland who can be part of my local support system..?

    Re: Help!!!

welcome back to Atkins and ADBB. Jump in the induction board for some support there during the next few days as the flu should hit you hard with all they glycogen swelling.

Start a journal if you don't have one that gand in journal chats is very supportive and will fill your email box if you have it set for post notifications.

Join an exercise challenge too and you got 3 support networks already going.

I'm with ya girl, don't worry about the scales, they are evil anyway. Get out the tape measure as thats a better indicator of loss anyway.

A lot of the weight you lost during induction, and then gained back when going off, tends to be water weight and not fat weight if that makes you feel any better. You still can make progress when you get back on the plan. Also, if you find cookies and other sweets to be tempting when you move into Ongoing Weight Loss there are a lot of great low carb recipes floating around for baked goods. They've certainly helped me stay away!

What part of Maryland are you in? I live in Northern Virginia/DC Metro area.

          Hi Black Barbie,

you came in the right place. we're all fighting the same battle and you will find plenty of support, encouragement and inspiration on the board.

you are not alone in screw it up at this time of the year and in feeling miserable and disappointed. As ditto start a JOURNAL in journal chats: it will both help you to write everything down and keep on track, and to receive supportive posts from other journalers!

I am back on strict induction too from today and have been doing very well so far, what about you?

          GOOD LUCK

For a more local support team try to follow the advice Dr Atkins gives on pages 116-118 (in my copy of Dr Arkins New Diet Revolution) in Chapter 10 of DANDR 2002, and recruit family and friends on your side to help you stay strong!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
