  • Low Carbing in Vegas

I'm starting to get a little nervous about an upcoming working trip to Las Vegas right after the New Year. For 6 days I'm going to be doing contract work at the largest consumer electronics trade show in the country, working 12 hour days and being shuffled between two different convention centers.

Fortunately my boyfriend will be there to keep me accountable and on track (I would be far too ashamed to eat off in front of him), but I'm nervous about not having the time and energy to work out with this busy schedule is going to do to me, what kind of snacks I'll be able to find to keep me through the hectic times, and where I'm going to eat surrounded by awful high fat high carb foods. Thank goodness I'm not 21 yet and can't drink!

I am the queen of trying to plan and control everything, including my food, ahead of time. I'll be staying at the Mirage. Does anyone have any suggestions of restaurants or other places to look out for on the strip?

I have never been there, but there will be a lot of buffets. Just stick with the plain meats, seafood, and veggies that you see. Salad bars are great. As far as snacks, I would take them with you. Keep a little portable cooler in your room with boiled eggs, cheese, meat sticks, etc.

I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

Been there twice while on this WOE. It was easier the last time on maintenance, but even on Induction, it was certainly possible. The buffets have lots of legal stuff on them -- just have to watch out for any sauces. I highly recommend the Spice Market buffet at the Alladin. You do have the absolute best non-buffet restaurant in your hotel for an Atkineer, Samba Brazilian Steakhouse. I highly recommend it.

I wouldn't think it would be hard at all! They have so many wonderful buffets and specials on things like steaks ...good luck though, and I hope you have a GREAT time!
