Today is my first day of dieting with your plan. I had two hard boiled eggs for breakfast and a salad with left over turkey for lunch. I can handle this great, my only concern is hunger pains. I am used to snacking and I want to know how to handle hunger pains which occur often. Thanks

Re: Hunger Pains
In the beginning you just keep eating legal foods when you're hungry. You will be in ketosis within a few days and the hunger pains will subside.Michele SW250/CW 226/GW150 F, 38, 5'6"
I was down to 175 in 2007 and I will get back there again!

Re: Hunger Pains
WATER! Drink water. Water water water water water. It will fill you up and keep those pains from coming back and is incredibly important during your induction period.
There is nothing wrong with little snacks throughout the day; you sound like you're doing well, and there's no reason to not have some cheese or another egg if you truly get hungry. But it's all about listeningto your body. Are you SURE you're hungry or have you just gotten into bad habits, hungry because of stress or other emotional issues relating to the holidays?
Also keep in mind that the the first two days, while your body is going through "glucose withdrawal" and before you enter ketosis will be the most painful, but they are only two days and after this period of time will be night and day, especially in terms of energy and hunger.Female, 21, 5'6"

Re: Hunger Pains
It took me awhile to figure it out, but Atkins is not just low carb - it's high fat, too. Be sure to get around 65% of your daily calories from fat (aim for the healthy ones). It seems really weird at first, since most of us have been raised believing low fat is best, but it'll backfire if you try that with Atkins.
Fat makes things taste better and helps you feel satisfied when you eat. If you cut the fat out, you'll be hungrier in the first place and less satiated when you do eat.

I wish I could say we're all equal, but the truth is Cleo's the cutest.

Re: Hunger Pains
In a week or so, you will have completely forgotten about hunger pains if you follow Atkins correctly!
I'm 11 weeks in, and from about week 2 or 3, I've only had a little niggling when I'm REALLY hungry! The rest of the time you have to remind yourself to eat, but you also don't snack as much, and you don't overeat because you think you're hungrier than you really are.
Like someone already said, drink PLENTY of water, as it will help fill you up. So whenever you get hunger pains, have a glass or two of water, then if you're still hungry, pick on something legal. I've been picking on slices of turkey. We have plenty in the house right now, heheSteph - Age: 24 yrs - Height: 5'4" - Original Weight: 170 lbs - Current Weight: 155 lbs - Goal Weight: 120 lbs - STAC
