  • Need advice, just starting

I'll be at my in-laws house this weekend for New Year's. I wanted some advice on what to bring so that I can prepare myself for the weekend and not be caught off guard. Any suggestions?

Are you on Induction? if yes, nothing easier!

Just scroll down the acceptable food list and bring anything you fancy.

If cooking in in-laws' house might be a problem make sure you cook something at home before going (boiled eggs - chicken breast - pork rinds........)

    Have a nice weekend!

If you are not on induction - I would suggest Macadamia Nuts! Not only are they one of the lowest carb nuts, they are delish, and they are Australian!

failing that, bring some good cheese, some nice deli slices and salami!

How about a nice veggie tray with a low carb dressing for dipping? I'm going to make a salmon pate (salmon with cream cheese, spices) and serve it stuffed on endive leaves, you could use celery too.

You could make any type of spread ahead of time.

Be careful with the cheese, snacking on it adds up to your limit of 3-4 oz quickly.

I'd precook some chicken breasts and slice them up, season. Bring some lettuce already cut and clean.

Do you know what you MIL is serving? Do you think she'll be supportive and prepare meals you can works with?

I'm taking ham rolls made with pickles and cream cheese for snacking. I am also taking a veggie tray, low carb dip and chicken wings. I will be content with these items. Have fun!

My MIL is VERY supportive of me. She's having surgery on Wednesday so it's pretty much up to us what we fix. I'll ask my DH to make sure she has some veggies for me there too.

Lots of food you can bring if you are on Induction.

                  Veggies and dip.
Jalapeno peppers stuffed with tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad
A deli tray (roast beef slices, roast turkey slices) with cubes of cheese

We're having our "new years party" at the office on Friday. I'm bringing meatballs: Italian flavored ones that I'm pairing with a tomato and basil sauce (for dipping) and an Asian flavored one (with ginger and Chinese Five Spice powder) that I'm pairing with a mustard sauce and a soy and sesame oil sauce.
