They fail to acknowledge that the Standard American Diet (SAD--which is an appropriate acronym, imho) is high fat and high carb. It would be interesting exactly how that San Diego rat experiment was carried out: did they feed the rats fat (like pure oils), if so what kind of fat, or did they feed the rats a rat-equivalent of a Big Mac and fries (high carb, high fat)?~Megs~

In relation to this article and study - What a load of dung!!!! It's funny how they gloss over the 'need' for insulin part and how that need fluctuates with the level of carbs and sugars consumed! GAH!!

Amazing coincidence that when LOWFAT and FATFREE were "the thing", the diabetes epidemic mushroomed.
