  • 1 Carb Reese's Cup

Just curious has anyone tried the new Reese's Cup that has 1 net carb. Just wondering if they taste any good.

Tempting things... I know they'd be the death of me and this WOE if I went back to purchasing anything chocolate. Portion control would go right out the window. I HEAR though they are pretty close to the real thing.

I tried them... the chocolate tastes great, however the peanut butter filling is horrible!
not to mention the after affects.

        Re: 1 Carb Reese's Cup

My advice to all newbies on this board, is to stay away from all things chocolatey. As it can be so easy to get the taste for it again. Making it harder to stick to plan.

What you'll generally see on this board (IMHO) is that people are sort of against the "frankenfoods" or low carb incarnations of high carb products. The sentiment, instead, is towards retraining one's body to no longer feel the need to eat these products.

I personally LIKE those Reeses, and find that these little things keep me sane in a sea of chicken and green beans.

            But again, that's just me.

I'm leery about trying anything with sugar alcohols...I've heard too many horror stories about gastro-intestinal crises to be wanting to stuff those down my throat!

And sweets were my downfall...it's just not worth having those back in my life.

From experience...not only does the sugar alcohol do evil to your digestive tract...they're just another kind of empty calorie.

I'd suggest trying to find something healthier for a snack, just my opinion!

                          Re: 1 Carb Reese's Cup

Oh Reese peanut butter cups are easy to "copy". I used to make them pre-Atkins and give them away as gifts.

Easiest way to do it is to melt the Sugar-free chocolate, add some peanut butter to it, pour some of into a paper cup for the bottom. When it hardens, put a scoop of peanut butter into that cup and fill it up with the remaining chocolate. Eat it, then go to the nearest bathroom and sit there until your stomach problems have been relieved. The following day, make sure there isn't anything "carby" around in case the peanutbutter cup has awakened any carb cravings.

If eating candy helped you get fat, then you might want to rethink eating a substitute of that food. Sheshy brings up an excellent point: low carb doesn't mean low(er) calorie. While we don't have to count carbs on Atkins, they do matter--even Dr. Atkins wrote that if you overeat calories, you won't lose weight. He unfortunately relied on us re-learning our natural satiety ques so that we self-regulate our food intake.

Low carb junk food is still junk food. You deserve to treat your body with more respect than filling it with garbage.
