    Anyone who has an answer can feel free to tell me, but I'm positive that one of these two ladies has an answer for me. Here's the question---do I need to take something with biotin? I mean, other than a no iron multi-vitamin, is there something I need to take with biotin to make it absorbable by my body? Is is absorbed without any additional help? So many vitamins and minerals need to be paired with other vitamins or minerals to actually be used by the human body, just wondering if that happens with biotin.

    Biotin is a B-Vitamin that is found in many foods. If you can eat egg yolks, you are getting a good supply of biotin, also the "friendly" bacteria that live in your gut produces biotin for you. There is a very rare biotin deficiency, it becomes apparent if the person eats raw egg whites. So I guess for these people, they should take biotin supplements if they eat raw egg whites.

    I know that some vitamins, specifically those marketed for the low carb dieters, advertise that they contain biotin. Marketing ploy? It could be that they take the egg white thing to be caused by eating any egg white, when the disease is specifically linked to eating raw egg white.

    Like with all vitamins, if your body has adequate amounts, the excess will go down the toilet.

    Most B-Complex vitamins contain biotin.

    Another reason not to eat copious amounts of raw egg whites.

      well they know biotin is used in the metabolism of fats cause it is used in the production of the substrates for the burning of the fatty acids SOoooooooo the more you get the more fat metabolism you get right? WRONG there is a limit to how much of any compound your body will make from raw materials and if it doesn't need more then it will not make more.


      not only eggs but cheese for inductees and nuts are also good sources. you should also be getting it in your regular vit too so don't go stocking up on it. IF you are low then talk to your doc about it but don't just swallow any supplement cause somebody somewhere said it helps weight loss.
