  • You know what?

Some people have said in the past that they get bored easily of the choices of food we can eat on Atkins.

I have been doing Atkins for over two years and I have just had for my dinner my all time favourite meal, which was my favourite when I first started my Atkins WOE......

Rump steak, fried in butter. With mushrooms in double cream and a few florets of Brocolli and some cauliflower. All washed down with a pint of cold water!

I think I could eat that sort of food for ever! And guess what, I am going to!

Either I dont get bored easily, or this so called "diet" offers a decent variety of food!

Just something for you all to ponder, you can carry on with your everyday life now

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

    Re: You know what?

I think they misuse the term bored and just get in a rut of eating the same stuff over and over and then say they are bored with the food. Cause with all the possible proteins and fats and veggies in just the induction food lists you could have a different menu every day for well over a yr.

I agree with 2Big, they must be the type who eat the SOS (same old stuff) everyday.

When I was researching Atkins and deciding whether or not to go on this WOE, I took a look at the acceptable foods list and thought "WOW! Look at all this food!"

How do I shut people up when they go on about everything I am missing?

"Who wants chips when you can have two steaks?"

British English: Chips = French Fries

        What did I have tonight?

Steak and salad followd by Greek Yogurt and mixed berries.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
        he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Couldn't agree more with you both. Some would think I'm boring because I have the same thing for breakfast almost every day (a hardboiled egg and an ounce of cheese). But come lunch and dinner, I find the variety on this woe amazing, even when I was on induction. I still have my favourites, like Buffalo wings on Friday nights. Ooo, today is Friday! Yum!

oh my goodness! I love the variety! Last night for dinner I sauteed up red peppers, onions, mushrooms with garlic and spices and at the last minute added a few handfuls of fresh spinach, shrimp and parmesan cheese! Bored! NO WAY!

              Re: You know what?

Yes, I want to go back to a diet where all I eat is dry lettuce. I'm tired of eating things like I had last night - ceasar salad, cabbage sauteed in butter, shrimps in a sauce made with butter, garlic and a touch of cream cheese and whipping cream.....NOT!!!! And steak....oh my....if I could afford it, that's all I'd eat.

Last night I made homemade Lobster Bisque for an appetizer followed by parmesean/porkrind breaded fried porkchops and a nice garden salad with freshly grated parmesano reggiano cheese and extra virgin olive oil and vinegar....it was to die for, and I was smart, I made enough so that I'd have leftovers for today!

Tonight we're having cheese fondue and another wonderful salad....what's not to like?

The really funny thing is, even when not lowcarbing, most people eat the same foods week after week. You just tell them to give up a food group and now it is boring. I think it would be boring if you could only have the carbs, but meat and veggies and cheeses and eggs, there is no end to what you can do with those. Add in spagetti squash and faux potatoes and it goes on and on. I think it just becomes an excuse, a reason to go off plan. Low carb food is pretty good eats !!! Stephie

                            Re: You know what?

A diet where you can eat pizza toppings to satisfaction is pretty boring. Start talkin' rice cakes, dry toast, dry potatoes and egg whites and I just get ALL EXCITED! (rolls eyes and shrugs) Some people just don't know what they're missing....they don't ever stop to think what makes their favorite foods exciting. Take pizza, for example. The toppings make it exciting. Lots of craziness in thinking oil free whole wheat crust with minimal toppings is any good for you compared to eating just the cheese, meat and veggies off of the top. It doesn't taste good and it's supposed to be fat free, so you don't get any nutrition from the food as most of the vitamins in it require oil to be soluable (sp??). Eat the toppings to your contentment and you get WAY more nutrition. Boring indeed.
