  • Caught off guard

My work schedule has been changed and I now work 3 8-hour days a week instead of 5 4-hour days. It works out much better for me and I don't hate it like I thought I would...lol
I do have to re-think my eating though. I thought I'd be fine with a lunch and a small snack, but I'm so used to having my 'small meals' through the day that it just didn't work for me. For the first time in 2 years I had the jelly legs, sweating and anxiety that comes with low blood sugar.
Also, I grabbed the wrong container out of the fridge yesterday and instead of my veggies/dip/sausage snacky container, I had a container with like, 8 hot wings! So my lunch consisted of that and some macadamia nuts I had leftover from the day before. Oh man, by the time I got home I was just vibrating with the shakes.

So, lesson learned...when I go back in next week, I'll have a selection of snackies that I can have quick noshes on during my day to keep my blood sugars happy.
It was awful...and to think I used to go almost the whole day not eating anything, then eating dinner and then eating popcorn all evening!! YIKES!

    Re: Caught off guard

I always thought that work schedules should work around us instead of us working around them. I'm a little weird that way. Do you have a lunch bag that you use? You could pack it the night before to be sure you won't grab the wrong thing in the morning. Just a thought.

On a side note, your photos are truly amazing! You're an inspiration to me. Thanks for posting them.

Changing schedules can be tricky. Spring semester just started for me and I'm having to get used to being away from home on a few of the days. I restarted Atkins while on my semester break where I was home most of the time. It's gone well so far though.

Sounds like you did well with your surprise wings! lol I'm glad you like your new work schedule. That makes life MUCH easier!

        Re: Caught off guard

I never have trouble planning and packing my lunch...I'm the sixty-second lunch queen...lol throwing in veggies, dip and whatever meat we had the night before. My bf has gone to work with the wrong container before but I've never done that until yesterday.
We have a little fridge at work and a microwave so my options are endless as to what I bring. What's sweet is that it's all in our back room so I can just nip in there, grab a quick bite and carry on when I need to.

I have an insulated bag, but it's kind of bulky (I ride a scooter to work and back) so I've been looking for something a little thinner and nicer looking than the grocery bags I've been using. I tried sewing one, but it just didn't work out.
        Anyway, lesson learned!

That's cool Moochie. I'm still trying to figure out a way to fit a lunch bag in my backpack with my 2 binders, spanish book and 50000000 pound anatomy book! Today I had the money to eat from the salad bar in the cafeteria, but that isn't always the case. Luckily it's only 2 days a week that I have to worry about bringing lunch.

I wish I had a lunch bag idea to share, but alas.. I don't.

Moochie I have an insulated fanny pack would that work? or do you need more room? I know boars head was giving away insullated lunch coolers about the size of one DANDR tall, 1.25 DANDRs wide and to the first blue line deep. with a shoulder strap is that too bulky for you?

That's kind of big, yes. I found a small gift bag in the closet that should work out just fine. Since I don't need an insulating bag mainly it's just esthetics here. Walking from the parkade to work with a half empty grocery bag doesn't look very polished, if you know what I mean...lol

lol.. nothing wrong with wanting your lunch bag to look as good as you do!!

I love how 2big measures with DANDR! That's great!
