  • Geeky Atkins things

So, I'm introducing some grains into my diet and I found Wasa Fiber Rye crackers. I used to choke those down before Atkins but for some reason they really appealed to me today. I think it was the promise of the crispy crunch.

I get home, haul out a cracker, spread butter on it...nuke it a few seconds to soften the butter so I can spread it then sat down to eat the BEST cracker I've ever eaten in my entire life!

    lol

I'm going to enjoy having a cracker once in a while. Melt some cheese on it, maybe a slice of deli turkey...mmmm...

I was just thinking that it's amazing what you find out you really enjoy when you've done without it for so long!

I took some cottage cheese with me as a work snack and I threw in a few small grapes and some chopped walnuts...no sweetener. OMG...what a great snack with the sweetness of the grapes.

This is a far cry from when I would eat 3 danish and two cups of coffee!

You and Dr Atkins think alike, he sang the praises of those flat breads too when he finally found them for his plan too

Dave, I think in your part of the world you would see Ryvita crackers.

                      Re: Geeky Atkins things

Well, it took me a long time to choose which package to take home..lots of label reading. Seeing as I've never really liked those in the past they seemed a good choice, because of their lower carb count and their high fiber, plus if I got something that I remember really loving THEN I'd have portion issues for sure.

I've worked hard in the last two years to deal with that "MUST HAVE *name a food, any food* AND LOTS OF IT!!!" mentality that I used to have. I think I've cultivated my self control to a point where I don't get that feeling anymore, but I don't think it's wise to temp it by bringing old favourites back into the apartment. (not that I would, because old favourites are full of sugars and trans fats!!)

I can't wait to get to nuts and berries....I don't think I will have any problems with either, since I don't like having too much salt anyway....

But other than that, I can also eat lots of anything....but not as much as I used to....

It is funny how our tastes change. Light and fluffy does not sound good to me anymore. Now, it's seedy, grainy, earthy that I love. Akmak crackers are very good as well. One of the healthiest on the market. DH and I love to mix sf peanut butter w/sf keto spread and have pb&j on these crackers. It's very yummy

I get some lovely ones called Easy Thins. They are made in Poland and imported here, so they may be available where you are. I get the corn ones (they also make rice), they are 2.6 g of carbs, no fat or anything. I have them for pate for a treat, or occassionally 3 for breakfast with vegemite (an Aussie spread), when I just don't feel like cooking.

They are like those rice cakes which I'm sure we've ALL tried in some other diet incarnation, but thinner, rectangular and much tastier.

Good for you Moochiecat! I am determined to go through OWL this time and come out the other side as thin as you! The big mistake I made the last time I was on Atkins was staying on extended induction for 8 months and getting so bored with the food I was bound to cheat! I lost 52 pounds but it was too hard, think I'll do it the easy way this time! Chriss
