  • I blew it!!!

I can't believe I blew my diet last night! I feel so guilty! I've already have lost almost 15 pounds! At first the diet wasn't that hard to follow, but now it is starting to get old. I really want to lose this weight. I have read the book and I exercise everyday. I feel so much better. The heartburn has stopped! Does anyone have any advice about how I can keep from cheating?

      Hey Vanilla,
I'd say the best way is to just keep your eye on the prize... that prize is a newer, healthier, slimmer you! My incentive is my before picture. I'm down 23 lbs, and I want that to be 23 that's gone for good!!! I never want to see a picture of me like that again!! Grrrr!! You can get past this one cheat, and remember the guilty feeling that you have right now... it just might keep you from cheating again. And, there are a lot of good things yu can eat for variety... just have a little imagination.

      Good Luck to you!

Don't beat yourself over it. Just get right back on the wagon so you can get rid of another 15 pounds, and then another, etc. Don't feel so guilty that you give up and go back to your old eating habits permanently. That would be bad for you. You can do this! I know it!

You don't say how long you've been on Atkins nor what phase of Atkins you are currently in. But I get the feeling, you're sticking to the Induction phase because when it's really hard to get bored with the diet on OWL---when you can add in more food and different types of food.

Don't be afraid to move to OWL. Remember the phase is called "On-Going Weight Loss" (emphasis on the "on-going" part). Once you do, you will find that you will have enough food choices that the diet will be easier to follow AND you'll still lose weight. I can eat fruit, legumes, grains, and even starchy vegetables on top of the Induction foods. Hard to get bored with choices like that!

What phase of the diet are you in? If you're done with your 2 week induction perhaps you should consider moving on to OWL. This can really help with the boredom and limited food choices.

It's also important you think of this as a way of life, and not a diet. There may be slip ups, you are only human. But just move on, get back on track and put it behind you.

I've been doing the continuous induction. I stay under 20 grams of carbs a day. I've been following it since November 27. Yes, I went through Christmas! I will probably be ok. I just need to stick to it...
