  • Should I Juat Quit??????

    Well i have been eating like this for a month now and as some of my posts say I have been eating loads of calories. I feel like eveything else is pretty much right. I was waiting for TOM to pass and eagerly got on the scale today after about a week or 2 and i am up 2 pounds putting me at the exact place where i started!

    It has been a month and I woould have already lost 5-10lbs on weight watchers at this point. I thought the weight would just fall off on ATkins but I must have been doing something wrong.

    I have posted my fitday menu (only been using fitday for 2 weeks) before but here goes again. Any ideas? Thanks Guys!

    Do you have the DANDR book? Are you doing induction? If so, you can have at most 3 cups of veggies and you're having more than that.

      at a quick glance I did notice ALOT of eggs. I believe eggs are about 4 a day.
      I have not read any of your other posts, so not sure where you stand on the following:
      Water?
      Exercise?
      Are you on any medications?
      Bren

        The worst time to weigh or measure for many women is during TOM. Many women retain water and that water retention directly affect your scale weight and your inches measurements (particularly if you swell up during your TOM).

        So back off the scale and drop the tape during TOM. Personally, I begin "gaining" weight (retaining water) the week before my TOM. When TOM passes, it takes me about 2 to 3 days for me to lose the water weight.

        I took a look at your fitday....

        1. You might want to cut back on the pork rinds and other salty foods, because they can cause you to retain water.
        2. Make sure you are only eating enough to satisfy your hunger. That is you aren't looking to "stuff" yourself with your meals.
        3. Make sure you are exercising.

          Failure again

          I went on Atkins the first week of November 2005 weighing 152. Lost 12 pounds with my target of losing 5 more pounds. However, beginning a little before Christmas and continuing until 1/22/06 i have gained my weight back. I am afraid to get on the scales so i'm not sure if i have gained all of the weight back. My question: Will i lose those pounds and most importantly inches again since i gained some of them back.

          I need some positive re-inforcement about how i looked/felt before i faiiled on Atkins. HELP!!

            i did induction for 2 weeks and then was exhausted so was advised to eat the full 20 grams of carbs in veggies. although there are only about 2 weeks on fitday i have been doing this since Jan. 1. i have the book as well. (i know no pork rinds)

              I was looking through your fitday and you Carbs are at 52 Grams. Are you even in Ketosis that would explain your cravuings and insatiable appetite. In induction Carbs are to stay at 20 and yours are at 52. Even know this amount of carbs is fairly low if you have any type of metabolic resistance you may not be getting into Ketosis where you start to lose weight. You CCL could be 40 and that would be preventing you from losing. Your Vegitable are awesome But, you are eating more then the recommended 3 cups/ Please Pick up a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. It's worth about 8 dollars but, it will help you to understand. I know it's frusturating but, I am sure if you cut down on your carbs and give it a few more weeks you will be very nicely surprised with a loss.

              We are all here for ya and want nothing more then for you to suceed so keep the questions comming and go and Pick up a copy of the Book it will help you out tramendously.

                Don't give up! Get the book, read the boards in this forum (stickies especially), and do a clean induction for 2 weeks and you WILL see results.

                  Sarah, I did not see anyplace where she had that many carbs?

                  Chowder....... DON'T GIVE UP! I think you answered one of your own questions.... you may be eating too much. It is hard to do at first, but you have to teach yourself to stop when you are satisfied, not full.
                  Also, Megs is right on (as always)..... I am one of those that NEVER weigh prior too or during TOM. I can be up as much as 8 pounds.
                  Again, are you drinking enough water? Exercise and are you on any medications?

                        when i was eating about 10 carbs onloy from vegetables in the first week or 2 i was not hangry at all. i was exhausted though so i started eating 20 carbs mostly from veggies for the day.

                        so i was dealing basically with no cravings and exhastion OR less cravings but still not satiated (hence more calories) with loads of great energy.

                        neither choice is working for me!

                          I know That Chowder I readt the calories thing and Screwed up I was reading it as Grams of Carbs Not calories so it was MY mistake you have been doing great.

                          Have you been adding any salt or spices to your meanls I just about crapped when I saw how much carbs was in a TSP of Garlic Powder. Just a thought. Are you doing anything different.

                          SO it's a week Past tom is that right. You may also be going through something called PISS(Post induction Stall Syndrom) it typically hits around week 3-4 I had the PISS for 6 weeks after my first 2 week drop then I began losing again. I know it's so hard to think that you will be any farther ahead looking Now But, really had I jumped off after the first month I never would have lost the 17 I lost after my Big scale stoppage. it was g weeks no loss and I gained 5 pounds I was exercising like a wild woman. I know I would not be where I am now if I had not stuck it out. I lost 85 pounds in 1 year and so far I have lost 98 pounds. I never dreamed I would be this far those first few weeks when the scale stayed the same. Give it a cance stick it out and you I am sure will be very surprised.

                              Sarah those are thre toital carbs for the day but CHowder doesn't have fiber reporting so you need to look at the totals under foods lists colums to see what net carbs total is.


                              chowder Have you lost any inches? that is the true measure of your fat shedding.

                              you have posted about over eating several times.
                              So the big question is are you eatting only enough food each time you eat to satisfy your hunger and stopping. Are you truely hungry when you eat? Your ketosis should have kicked in long time ago and you should be having appetite supression.

                              Adding more veggies to up the carbs is a move from induction to OWL. increasing the carbs by selecting higher carb veggies is still doing induction. Have you looked at the reports are of fitday and seen if you are low in any minerals or vits? you can be tired because of that.

                              You don't have any exercise listed. what are you doing other then light house work? Exercise is mandatory on Atkins.
