  • Two questions:

    Hey all,

    I've not ponied up the dough for the book, yet. Things are tight and well, y'all know the rest. So, I was hoping you could answer them for me.

    1) Why is the 8 cups of water so important? I drink nearly that even before I started Atkins, so I'd think it would not been hard to drink a bit more. But I'll be honest, I've probably only had about 6 each day, still. I've read so many times that if you don't drink that much it could stall your weight loss. How come?

    2) I've got headaches. Only been in Induction for 3 days, counting today. Is this normal? I've heard folks complain over the years but now that I'm participating I'm a bit more intrigued.

    The headaches are normal. I had a 3 day clanger of a headache, I think it was mainly caffeine withfrawal, because at lunchtime on day 2 I weakened and had a cup of coffee and it went for about 4 hours. It WILL pass and you'll suddenly realise it's gone and you fell better.
    The water helps flush your kidneys and stop them building up waste products. You are eating a high protein regime and need to keep the toxins flowing through the kidneys. (Note, this is my understanding of it, ou'll get more info on this as more people read your post.)
    Good luck - this is a great way of life and you WILL lose weight.

      Since money is really tight for you right now, try to see if your public library carries the book. Public libraries typically do not charge any money for library card applications and even if you do have to pay a small fee, think of all the books you will have access to with your card.

        Oooo, I didn't even think of that! I've just moved to a new area and last I went to the library to get a card they were shut for renovations. I'll check this tomorrow, thanks for the idea!

          read the FAQ section of the board about why you need water to lose weight ( that applies to any weight loss plan not just atkins) and will understand why water is important to losing weight and it really isn't because of anything you are eating. it has to do with the biomechanics of weight loss.

          The 30% protein level will act as a natural diuretic as will many of the foods on the induction foods list so you will need to replenish the fluid you are losing.

          you actually need more then the 64 oz unless you have less then 25 pounds to lose and are not exercising heavily.
