  • How good it feels

I have not lost much weight recently but I am doing a lot of cycling and my shape is changing. The man's belly is still there but pulling in very slowly. The rest of me is quite lean. It's the feel of myself that I find satisfying (no comments please!). I run my hand down the side of my face to my chin and I can feel the bone structure with the extra padding removed. I do the same round the back of my neck and shoulder - all lean meat now! And after all the cycling my thighs and calves are incredibly firm. Even my hands and fingers feel so much better. I still wait for that belly to firm!

    But progress is progress.

On an operational tour with the British Army a few years ago I got to know the surgeon and the anethetist in the Field Hospital very well. The anesthetist was funny - he would declare people's weight as they walked by, expressing his pleasure or disquiet about having to offer them his professional services. There was one 6 ft officer who was extremely trim - this anesthetist would drool when he saw him "Look at him - he's a perfect subject for an anesthetic." "Sadly", he said, "I don't often see the perfect patient."

Well, I'm getting there, but lean or not, I would prefer not to need surgery.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
    he said, 'Don't count calories.'

    Re: How good it feels

I loved reading your post - to hear how you're becoming satisfied with your body. I have hated mine for over 40 years - but this past year I finally feel some peace with it and don't look at myself as a monstrous blimp.

I'm sure with the dedication you are showing to your new cycling adventures..you will soon be totally satisfied with your body and mind.

      Good for you, Labarum!

Thanks for offering some new insight...

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes to feel more defined areas, bone processes, and whatnot, though I know I've only really just started with this.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

      Vigilance, not perfection.
