This Wednesday will be 3 years with the Atkins plan. Started out at 244 & got down to 171-173 lb. July 1, 03, I started exercising to help keep weight off. Started walking on the tread mill & within a month, was running (6 MPH, my inseam is 29") 30-40 minutes/day 3-4 times/week. My best time was 3 miles in 26.5 minutes. Summer 04, picked up a Crossbow weight machine (better design than bowflex & WAY cheaper) & alternated between both. May, 05 bought a bike & stared hitting a local bike trail. In short time I was doing 22 miles/day 4-5 times/week.
About this time I started eating some things I shouldn't have (ocasional fried calamari, bread crust at the local Italian restaurant, tempura at the local Chinese) but still maintained my weight because of the exercise. Early fall I started having a brownie (my downfall) with breakfast, still maintaining weight. Come late October, couldn't ride any longer, got dark too early. I was burned out from non-stop exercise from July 03 to Oct 05 & decided to lay off for 2 months. During that time, I worked my way back up to 184 lb. Started on induction on Jan 02/06 & got back on the treadmill on the 16th. Now down to 176.
Exercise is a double edge sword.......hate to do it, but it sure raises your A.C.E.. Can't wait to get back on the bike, it's way more fun than the treadmill (for me, YMMV). Well, thats the Readers Digest version of the last three years on Atkins. Not bad for a guy in his mid 50's??
My question is: WHERE can I get ATKINS cereal? I have some with breakfast & it satisfies my desire for something crispy-crunchy. Anybody?
