About 3,500 calories adds up to about 1 pound. This applies whether they are food calories coming in, or calories (burned by exercise) going out.

If you eat 3,500 calories more than your body needs, you will put on about 1 pound. If you use up 3,500 calories more than you eat, you will lose about 1 pound in weight.

don't worry, it's water gain and will pass (Unless of course you ate/drank 17500 calories ). One night off plan will not cuase a 5lb gain of fat...Go back on plan, drink your water, you'll be fine. It may take a couple of days to go back in ketosis (i'm assuming you're in induction or OWL).

Dont forget this is a way of life, not just a short term diet, sometimes we make mistakes..so don't beat yourself up too bad.

Mistakes happen, just jump right back on the wagon and all will be fine.

So why did I torture myself for so long off plan...LOL Anyway I just can't handle it I am miserable...It will go away just eat back on plan. And try to remember how bad it felt...I do.

You might also have a food intolerance to whatever you ate/drank. Bloating can be a sign of food intolerance.

Pick yourself up and dust yourself off.

I made some very poor choices this weekend, and I am now suffering from the carb bloat too. You are not alone, lol

Join me with drinking tons of water! I feel better already and I'm sure you will too.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Re: Carbs and Bloat

                  Actually its not just bloat.

Your body immediatley replaces the lost glycogen once it switches out of ketosis and to burning carbs. Just like the first ~5lbs of atkins weight loss is water/glycogen loss, you'll gain that 5lbs whenever you eat enough carbs to turn off ketosis. Most of that 5lbs IS water, and it certainly is NOT fat, but I'm willing to bet you were mad thirsty after you ate that batch of french fries?

Cut the carbs again and you'll lose the bloat. Just keep in mind that when this WOE is complete / you eat enough carbs to get back to not being in ketosis - you should expect to gain 5lbs immediately.

                    Re: Carbs and Bloat

If I cheat 1 day it can take up to a week of serrious on plan induction level eating to get back to where I was before the cheat.
