    I'm making a sirloin potroast with 6 cloves of garlic and red wine. It smells like heaven. Man I feel bad for people on low fat diets!!!!!!

          What time should we arrive?

          I love garlic too but just remember even though Dr Atkins says garlic is a great power house nutritionwise it still has carbs to count

            Wow, does that ever sound delicious! Still on Induction though, so the wine is out... but I think I can smell it.

                Should be done in about 2 hours from now Delcious.

                6 cloves over 2.5lbs of meat + 1/2cup pinot = almost 0 carbs.

                Great with mustard or just plain! No carb meal!

                  I LOVE roast done that way! Throw in some dried rosemary next time..you'll just die...you'll DIE it's so good...lol

                    I'll give that a try next time, the rosemary. It came out extremely well. I could eat this whole thing its so good.

                      Sorry, but I must correct you on your delicious-sounding meal.

                      6 cloves of garlic has 5.6 g net carbs and 0.5 cups of Pinot noir has 2.5 g carbs.

                      8.1 grams of carbs for that dish. You can then divide that among how many servings it is. So, it's not really a "no carb" meal. Sounds delicious, though! Love garlic and wine reduction sauces!! mmmmmm

                        WRONG

                        a) You do not eat the garlic
                        b) you do not eat / drink the all the pinot noir.

                        Considering I'll get 6 meals out of it, and there is MAYBE 3g of carbs for the whole thing it is to be considered a 0 carb meal.

                          No offense, but I am not trying to be rude here. Obviously, you thought otherwise, so I apologize.

                          You do not think that you can not extract the carbs into your sauce when you're cooking? Interesting thought. Certainly what's extracted may or may not be as high as an uncooked piece of garlic. That is up to a food scientist to gather. Since I'm only a geneticist, I can not answer that question fully, but only offer my opinioin.

                          If you read my post carefully, I was listing total carb count for your entire dish, not per serving. If you wish to discount the carb count because you don't believe that carbs will leach into your sauce, that is your choice.

                          For those that wonder why they aren't losing weight as fast as they would like, I think it is important to list all the carb counts to avoid "carb creep." To disregard it as non-existant & give false information to those that are learning the ropes is doing a disservice to others.

                          Again, you may disagree, and you have every right to. However, I still stand by what I posted and like being completely honest about full disclosure on what's in a meal, not just wishful thinking.
