“Here's what I've lost: abdominal pain,
    bloating, gas, worms”

Well, I don't know about WORMS, but I lost abdominal pain, bloating and gas when I gave up refined carbs!

I'm not real sure about these cleanser things. I think it's more.....hype than not. Hey..I'm 40...just had a colonoscopy...and I"m clean. I did NOT have a good diet before so I'm sure there was a lot of opportunity for "toxins" to build. Not a darn thing in there. Some Fleet (stuff you drink not the enema) cleaned me out good. Those pics look like seaweed or drug ballons or something. If that stuff was coming out of me...I'd be in the ER.

          O-M-G!

They will make up anything to sell their potions!

If you didn't go but once every two weeks for 30 years, you'd have already been relieved of your intestines, and put on a bag.

          And worms?

          Give me a break.

Intestinal health is super important, but don't go doing something like this without consulting your doctor. Screw up your intestines, and your in for it for life!!

And who wants to go poo 3-5 times a day? Once a day or once every other day is far more than enough for me, and I won't have to buy a rainforest to supply myself in toilet paper.

          Pure bunk!

If you're doing this for the weight loss-then you're heading towards an ED because all you'll lose is water-become dehydrated, be rushed to the ER, put on IV, be severly scolded, be charged thousands of dollars, go home, and wonder WOW that $75.00 really cost me a HECK of a lot more, to find out you now weight the same, if not more after eating hospital food, and devouring a whole bag of IV fluids.

Your body is a fine tuned machine that naturally cleanses its own internal organs. This like thiose detox diet kits. Thye are an absolute ripoff! It makes me so mad that they try to hornswoggle people into buying their products by fear and doom.

Don't do it! The gut needs bacteria to survive, if you clean everything out your body will have trouble digesting your food, you will get infections, and definitely be worse off. Like Betty, just giving up refined carbs has got rid of all my tummy problems and my bowels are as regular as clockwork.

This is as bad as any email scam!

              Re: COLONIX Internal (colon clenser)

Well, before starting Atkins, I would have disagreed with Heather - a normal person should eliminate 2-3 times per day. When it comes in, it should come back out without much wait time - a few hours is best. If you aren't going a few times a day you probably don't have enough fiber in your diet.

But now eating this way - alot less is going in and I have no idea how often I should be going. The bulk from all those carbs (bread, fries, etc.) isn't there. So wouldn't it make sense that my overall going would decrease? I hope so. I'm still in Induction so that isn't the best time to be figuring this out, I guess.

I TOTALLY AGREE that our bodies need the good bacteria and the colonix would probably destroy that. I think that it's for people who are backed up forever and really it might help them. They say there's all kinds of black tar and stuff that comes out - I will just remain regular, thank you!

There is NO PROOF that says it's NORMAL to poo 2-3 times a day. Everyone is different, as long as their bowel habits don't change. I go once every other day or so, sometimes I don't go for three days. But that's normal for ME. I don't feel constipated, when I go it's not constipated-like. So if you went 2-3 a day and thought it was normal, then that was normal for you. But no doctor will ever say EVERYONE MUST poo 2-3 times a day or it's not normal. If I had to go that many times, I'd get a cork LOL

As for how long it takes to digest...it takes about 4-8 hours to digest a meal. Any sooner, and you run into digestive problems that need looking into.

How often you go is definitely a personal thing and different for everyone. The only time to worry is if the freqency changes for no reason. I'm as regular as clockwork and it is every morning for me, but I've heard of several folk who go once every 2-3 days and they are quite healthy. Every metabolism is different.
Even animals are the same, we have 5 ats and they all have different patterns (we know, we have to clean the litter trays!).

                          Ditto!

If you use a colonic cleanser, you wipe out all the good bacteria in your intestines as well as the bad ones. Without the good bacteria, any bad bacteria entering your system will have free reign.

Over here, there was this general in the armed forces who was a serious health buff. He exercised regularly and ate a haelthy diet. He died at 57 because of food poisoning. The doctors attributed his death to his regular use of colonic cleansers which lead to his inability to fight of the infection from food poisoning.

If colonic cleansers are so bad, why are they sold. Colonic cleansers are used prior to surgery involving that area. They're not meant for treating anything.

                            Interesting subject!

We recently had a programme, broadcast here in the UK, about detoxing.
Each day they all gave themselves a coffee enema. It was some 'special' mix not the instant stuff from the super market!
All of them, after a few days, produced what the experts call 'colon plaque'...You can see a pic of colon plaque in the OP's link. Looks like seaweed.
I find it fascinating lol. Maybe I'm just sick, but the thought of that stuff inside me....well...better out than in I say!
Saying that...I'm not brave enough to try it myself lol.
