    I have been on the atkins for 20 days now and have not lost more than 4 pounds or so. I use the ketones sticks and it shows that I'm only at moderate ketosis. I don't have time to exercise much. I make sure that I look at the ingredients of everything. My only downfall I think is that I drink caffeine free diet coke. Could that prevent me from losing weight? How much am I suppose to lose and how fast? I weigh 144 pounds and when I started I was like 148. I have an 18 month old and I am just trying to lose the baby weight I gained. Before the baby I weighed 100 pounds. I don't plan on being that small but would like to be 110 or 115. Help!

    Could you post a sample menu of what you eat in a day? How tall are you? The less you have to lose the slower your weight loss will be.

    Exercise is very important and must be done. You have to make time for it.

      Hi. To answer your question yes I think you should cut out the diet coke, as that is a common staller in a lot people. Its because of the sweetener used (aspartame). How much water are you drinking?

      On top of that it might be useful for you to post a couple of days sample menus so that we can check for you.

      finally thought, for someone your weight (14 4lbs isnt a bad loss at all. But I can see why you are frustrated.

      cut out the diet coke and post some menu's we will sort this out for you.

        thanks for the quick responses.
        I am 5'2" so I am short. I try to drink as much as I can which is usually 3 bottles of poland spring I think 16 0z. And a couple of diet cokes the 12 oz cans.
        here is a sample menu: breakfast: 4 strips of bacon and one cracker barrel piece of white cheddar cheese. Or if I have the time I will scramble 3 eggs with bacon.
        Lunch: two scoops of tuna sometimes with a couple of hard boiled eggs or bacon and cheese again cheddar or mozzarella. Another day I would do chicken w/ mayo and bacon or egg salad w/ bacon

        Dinner: braciole stuffed with parsley and garlic or tuna salad or grilled chicken or bacon cheddar burgers.
        Basically those are the things I eat regularly.

          Drink water instead of the coke.

          How much cheese are you eating? Max 4 ozs a day and it stalls a lot of people

          Watch out for the bacon. It seems like you're eating a lot of it.

          What is braciole? Where are the vegetables? the 20 gms of carbs should come mostly from veggies.

          And what about exercise? Why don't you have time for it? You don't have 30 minutes a day? (to start).

            There are 3 things that jump out at me straight away.

            1) the diet coke, but we have covered that already.
            2) Where are your veggies? You need to be getting your vegetables in, spread out through the day.
            3) you must be drinking at least 64 oz of water a day, then plus an extra 8oz for each 25 lbs you want to lose.

            Another comment would be about the cheese. You need to limit the intake of that also.

                    You've posted the same menu twice, but you haven't answered the question about where your veggies are.

                    Have you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002 (DANDR for short)?
                    If not, it's vital that you do, so you understand the how and why behind the diet.
                    You are doing your own version of low carb, but it's not quite Atkins.

                    Also, only water counts as water....no other liquid counts towards the 64+ ounces of water you need to be drinking a day.

                      You can do it You just have to stick to the real plan not the one veryone thinks is the real plan!
                      I also can not have diet sugar the stall my weight loss
                      bacon another thing I can not have and alot of them are sugar cured try turkey bacon, but whatever make sure it is not cured in sugar.
                      Like everyone alse had said water 64oz plus 8oz more for every 25 pounds you wish to lose and more for exercise.
                      And as I am finding to be the case you must get some type of exercise.
                      Yes veggies are very important they are a must. brocolli is low in carbs
                      spinach is great.
                      and there are many others on the acceptable foods list!
                      Read all the stickies they will help alot

                        I have a question....what do you mean by two scoops of tuna? Are you eating an already prepared tuna salad or is it two spoonfuls of tuna straight from a can?

                        Editing to add..

                        About the braciole you are eating, does the stuffing contain bread crumbs or is it only chopped herbs?
