Re: Fruits
Nope. You can't eat apples until the higher rungs of Ongoing Weight Loss phase--many weeks from now, possibly even longer depending on your carbohydrate metabolism. Go read the OWL sticky about the Carbohydrate Ladder in the Atkins OWL/Pre-Maintenance Forum, if you're curious about how far away they are in this way of eating. Apples are really carb-y.No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Vigilance, not perfection.

You can only eat the foods on the list found on the link above.
It may be worth you picking up a copy of Atkins revolution book also.

Re: Fruits
just remember what you are used to eating got you to the point of needing to lose weight. When you have finished your induction and are doing OWL there willbe a place in your life again for apple eating.

Re: Fruits
Yup, lettuce has carbs! If you want to check out the count on foods, you can go to www.fitday.com and sign up for free. You can look up foods and the carb count etc on each. Three cups of lettuce or two cups of lettuce and one cup of the other "acceptable" veggies on the induction list a day. Do you have your book? Have you read it? The book is a must, there is so much info in it you need to know in order to understand the entire concept. There are a lot of threads in the induction forum that will really help you both too, if you don't have the book at the moment. This place is a fount of info, look around and ask questions, we're always glad to help. The wallet sized list that cleo posted is what you can eat on induction, while counting carbs.

Re: Fruits
Actually lettuce has very few carbs - or anything else worth eating at all - it is basically chewy water!!Originally posted by gg626Why only three cups of lettuce? Does it have carbs?
Take a look at this post explaining why we need to choose vegetables that have more goodness in them than just lettuce!

Dr Atkins told us to eat 3 cups of vegetables from the list of allowed foods not just 3 cups of lettuce. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard....read.php?t=6781Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!
