  • Are You Hungry ?

Before I found the Atkins Diet, I was a Weight Watcher. I remember that I would be extremely hungry, even though I was barely keeping within my 'points'.
By about 3pm in the office I would be absolutely famished. Using Diet Coke to get me through
My tolerance level would be really low. Someone would ask me something and I would ROAR at them like some sort of big wounded animal.

Anyways, fast forward to December last year and I am fully doing Atkins and loving every minute.

Well, some workmates and I went to a Christmas function. I had eaten my lunch at the normal time of 12pm.
We were playing lawn bowls and having a great time. We had a catered dinner being prepared.
Dinner was late and it was getting past 6pm and close to 6:30pm.

A couple of my work mates kept asking me "Are you Hungry". Different ones asked a couple of times. Oh course I answered 'No' as food was not the least in my mind.

I was starting to get a bit bugged by these questions and pondered to myself 'why are they asking me that ?'

then it hit me - They were famished! There tummies were really rumbling!

That really made an impact in my mind about the power of this diet. Prior to this WOL I couldn't go 3 hours without eating and turning into a growly bear!

Hahaha Dave. This diet really does have a dramatic effect on most cases of "the crankies". I love how that happens to me... my friends are starving, starving, starving, and I'm smiling and feeling fine. I remember feeling almost feral on WW.

I also find that sometimes I'll eat lunch at noon and then be totally shocked when I get a hunger pain many hours later, such as 6:00 or so. I know that it can be important to eat every six hours, but now my stomach is so quiet, it's hard to know how much time has really passed.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

    Vigilance, not perfection.

And Dave, that is one of the reasons I love this diet so much. It takes my mind off food completely and doesnt make me feel hungry.

If I feel hungry, i eat something without feeling the need to starve myself like other diets. Its great!

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

That's the best thing about this woe. You aren't starving all the time so you can get on with your life instead of just thinking about food. I also find that the foods are more compatible with my system so, how do I say this.....there are no windy days. So basically, things are a lot quieter all around. Hee

                  Re: Are You Hungry ?

I'm hardly ever hungry anymore. Sometimes when I need food, I feel a little nauseated, but not hungry. Then I go get a low carb snack and after 3 bites that feeling is gone. My family tells me they're starving and yet I'm not. Go figure.

i guess my problem was i always thought i was hungry, one snack at night couldn't satisfy, it was usually ice cream, then maybe some cookies and chips...it could just go on and on. Now i'm hardly ever hungry!

                      Re: Are You Hungry ?

Well, I am back after being off the wagon for a while and I can tell you that I am not hungry today. I tried the Weight Watchers plan the past couple of months and just had to stop. My blood sugar levels were threw the roof, I was moody, I was hungry, my skin was breaking out and I was hungry all the time. So, whether I lose one pound on Atkins or not, I know it at least makes me feel better. I cannot wait to get back into the groove!

                          Re: Are You Hungry ?

Isn't it great not to be hungry. Our trips out were always dominated by I had to eat, otherwise I would get a migraine. Now, I don't even think about it, just make sure I take my water bottle(s) and a little container of nuts 'just in case'. But I can go 8 hours now before I start to feel growly. (I eat every 6 or so, but one day it got strung out due to circumstances and I was NOT hungry!)

And not one migraine since finishing Induction's first 3 days!

And I lost another kg today (changing ticker as we post)!

Good to see you back Deb. This is MUCH better than WW! You can do it!

YEP! that's the reason I'm here. Only WOE that I'm not hungry on. I lost 50 pounds on low fat one time. Hungry every single day (if not hour).
I could skip lunch most days and it wouldn't really bother me. And I don't have to go to the fridge as soon as I walk into the house at 4pm. However, I'm careful to eat something for lunch-because I find that if I save up and eat too many carbs at supper I get some cravings a couple of hours later.
