  • Things I need to keep telling myself as I buckle back down

    Things like this have been posted here many times before, but they are things that I must keep reminding myself as I go forward in this journey. Especially now that I am buckling back down, and getting back to business.

    1. Food is fuel, period.
    2. Food is not pleasure, while eating can still be a pleasurable experience, eating solely for pleasure is wrong.
    3. Food should not be used for comfort.
    4. Food does not bring happiness.
    5. Food does not erase loneliness.
    6. Boredom is not a reason to eat.
    7. Food should not dominate my thoughts.
    8. I have so much to live for, I will not allow food to kill me.
    9. The benefits from exercise far outweigh any discomfort you may feel while exercising.
    10. Laziness is NOT discomfort.
    11. I deserve this and I'm worth it.
    12. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels.

    Good post Jim!

    I especially liked #12! (Though I gotta tell ya, some of this Atkins food is darn tasty!! )

    Good luck on getting back onboard.

    Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

        great start

        now what's your plan of action for when your brain doesn't belkieve what you are telling it? got your house bulletproofed? got support folk lined up? got a copying mechanisme that works for you?

          i like 4,6,7 and 10. I have no reason not to excersise now with a treadmill in my home.
          I choose not to be lazy!!
          I choose not to stuff my face with bad bad things!
          I choose lose this weight and make a difference in my health and to be here for my family!
          YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!

              I too have 'refound' some... after being hung at the 144ish mark for 2 months... I ended up with food poisoning....Dec. 16... the start of my downfall...

              then my sinus surgery gone wrong... Jan. 12...

              and in those 2 months... I found tooooo much weight.....

              for a couple of weeks, i kicked around the idea of weight watchers (coz I dearly love fruit.. apples especially)....

              after getting nowhere..... I decided it was time... to get back to Atkins.. and induction...

              looking back... it makes me wonder where I COULD have been if I'd just been sticking to it... without the apples, applesauce, pasta, etc...

              oh well.. it's like being a monday morning quarterback....

              if a frog had wings....

              I'll BET my next 8 weeks go better than the last 8 weeks... as far as eating goes....

              and you guys are my inspiration...

              so MANY of the things on the list are so true for me... I printed it... three times... once for my desk at work... once for my bathroom mirror.. and once for my fridge door...

                I remember #12 if I'm not mistaken from a book .. don't recall the exact title.. but it was the hollywood pineapple diet or something.. judy mazel... once i lost from 114 to 102 in ONE WEEK doing that pineapple thing.. (but I nearly DIED... I was so hungry.... ).. I'd been measured for a dress for a gal's wedding.......and I'd gained about 15 pounds... and I couldn't botton it.... or breathe... so I HAD to lose fast..... but it was crazy hard

                    I think ppl are going to kill me here but I dont agree with your number 2.
                    I still consider food a pleasure, actually the better you eat the more pleasure you get from food.
                    Having some nice fish, that you cooked home with veggies, arrange a nice plate, set the table...
                    Isnt that a pleasure too?
                    Im not talking about going to some hamburger place and have 2000 carbs in 5 minutes, or eat till you drop.
                    But I think that a life without the pleasure of eating is a very boring one.

                      Eating can still be a pleasurable experience. But to eat solely for pleasure is a mistake. It's when you eat something because it pleases you, and not because you're hungry, that is what I was specifically talking about.

                          I read the whole thing. I think we shouldnt just eat because we are hungry.Eating because we think we are hungry is what made us fat. I believe in eating for pleasure, enjoying food isntead of just using it as fuel.

                            if I only eat what I enjoy.. then that pretty much rules out boiled eggs and meat in general...

                              I think we shouldnt just eat because we are hungry.Eating because we think we are hungry is what made us fat. I believe in eating for pleasure, enjoying food isntead of just using it as fuel.

                              I use food as fuel and for pleasure... the pleasure isn't in the food though .. the pleasure comes from knowing I am giving my body what it can best use to keep me fit and healthy.
