    RESIST.

Think about how crappy that stuff will make you feel afterwards. The bloat, the gas, the GUILT.

Go make yourself a nice fatty legal treat.

YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOUR CRAVING.

REMEMBER: NOTHING TASTES AS GREAT AS THIN FEELS.

      Oh Jen!

Stay strong... you don't really want them, you don't want that reality--you are just struggling with the idea of them.

Remember that tomorrow you won't have the pleasure of how they taste. You'll just be left sluggish, heavy, and tired... do something non-food related. That always seems to help me... workout, read a good book, find something good on TV or a movie to watch, call a friend, sew, anything at all that's entertaining or productive instead of eating.

You can do this! I know it. Don't give up.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

      Vigilance, not perfection.

Remember how good it will feel tomorrow knowing that you didn't do this tonight... You can do it! Grab a big glass of water. Yeah, I know it's not cake... but, it's better for you. If you fall victim, tomorrow you will feel terrible knowing what you did... but if you stay strong you'll feel better, knowing that you have beaten the beast!!!

Stay strong. I am on a restart of Day 1 so I know about the cravings. Drink water. Think water. Take a hot bubble bath. Play video games. Color. Read a book. Watch mindless television. Anything. If I can do it, then you can. Come on...just a few more hours till bed.

Time to find something yummy in the recipe section. Hot chocolate made with whipping cream? Beats that fat free junk any day!

so did you survive the cravings?

Since you just ate and they arrived you really need to look at the foods you just had ans see if one is triggering the cravings in you.
Start journaling the Ws along with the foods. what were your feeling before during and after you ate and again an hour later, who was with you, where did you eat, what did you eat and why did you eat. soon you will see a pattern emerge and when you idnetify it you can take steps to avoid it in the future. Splenda celeray were food triggers for me and my little sister was a big emotional trigger.

                  Hi All,
                  it's the next morning now.
Thank you for all your replies they kept me home last night.

                  But...

I still have the terrible cravings. Not even really hungry just craving. Had some protein (left over pork chop for breakfast) - didn't even want it while I ate it - just wanted carbs.

I think I know what's going on. (1) TOM combined with (2) getting a cold. Not that carbs are good for a cold, but, somehow it's making my body want them.

Oh also (3) the first time around, when I was successful with Atkins the first time -- I had a major "out." I would cure the cravings with nuts - almond butter or macadamias or some such. Enough carbs to cure the cravings - jumping a few OWL rungs but then afterward I would go back - and unlike extra vegetables or fruit or anything else, they did not seem to make me get more hungry after.

HOWEVER - I can't do that anymore. Now, all nuts give me serious migraines as well as upset stomach. (I don't think Atkins caused this, my mother had developed nut-migraibes at the same age.)

The other thing I used to do - NOT okay from the book - but it worked, although it slowed things a little - was give myself a "day off" once a month. Usually, some time around TOM.

I was planning not to do that this time. It did slow things down some.

But I might need to try it anyway. Boundaries and limitations rather than a binge. (I'm so glad y'all helped me NOT go to the store last night, I surely would have binged!!!)

On the other hand... gee I sure hope this isn't a food-trigger-thing. Because what I ate was a simple salad and a plain (just salt-n-pepper) steak. Pretty basic Atkins food. If STEAK is a trigger I'm in trouble!!!

                    Re: Cravings

did you make the steak dinner last night yourself or did you get it at a restaurant? Sometimes restaurants do things to their foods in order to mask ify quality of the ingredients....

Anyhow, I think cravings hit each of us from time to time. Go through your food journal and see what you've been eating for the last few days. Pay attention to your carb intake as well.

I see you started on Jan 17. So if these cravings continue, I would suggest you move to rung 1 OWL if you are still on Induction, or if you have moved to OWL, add another 5 net carbs to your CCLL and see if that will help with the cravings. Only a small percentage of us need to restrict our carbs between 15-20 net carbs daily in order to lose weight. The vast majority of us can eat higher carb amounts while losing weight and while we exercise due to our moderate or low metabolic resistance to weight loss.

No, I made it myself in a pan. Salt and pepper, that was all. The salad was lettuce - a few olives - and a spoonful of artichoke-in-oil. (Checked the artichoke ingredients. Nothing wrong there, pretty much just oil.) The artichokes had enough oil, so no dressing.

Actually the steak was a really-high-fat cut (rib steak) and I'm thinking, the previous time I got cravings after eating steak it was the same kind. It made the mushrooms seem really greasy. I do get enough fat in my diet with no problem; maybe this was simply too much.

Perhaps my body was looking for some bread to absorb the excess oil ?? ?

Naja posted a thread recently about meat causing cravings. I have an over-eating problem with pork chops---if I eat one (no matter how badly cooked), I have a hard time stopping myself from eating more and more. I don't know why that happens only with pork chops. So whenever I eat them, I have to be very careful and I limit myself to 2 chops (which makes it easier on me because I only have to cook 2 chops!)

See what happens the next time you eat that particular cut of meat.
