  • Knocked out of ketosis completely?!

This is really, really weird...I would try to refer to dandr but my books are all packed away already and I'm not going through boxes to find it haha

OK so I've been on Atkins since October, and I've stayed in ketosis the whole time. But from Tuesday of this week, everything's changed, yet my diet hasn't one bit. I went from not having much of an appetite, and having to remind myself to eat, to being ravenous, to the point where I was crying in work today because my stomach was hurting because it was so empty, yet I ate more than I usually do. I've been constantly hungry all week long, and I can't figure out why.

I dont have any test sticks to check ketone level right now, but I swear I've not changed a thing about my diet, and Ive been eating this way for 4 months now!

I weighed myself yesterday anyway and I'd lost 2lbs, but I'm tired and really hungry all the time. This just isnt right. Can someone enlighten me before I go mad and start unpacking my house in search of the book? haha

      Hi Stephbob,

Any stress going on right now? I've found that my tummy rumbles more (stomach acid maybe) when I get stressed out or anxious...

Or possibly, have you increased your exercise/activity recently?

I agree with Perry though, eat!

This happened a few times to me as well...I have noticed I have a big increase in appetite, starving is what I would say, and I have to eat extra. This happened right before I wooshed down several pounds.

I just make sure the extra thing I eat are like chicken breast or tuna salad or any whole good legal foods..oh and for me not extra cream or too much cheese.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

If you're hungry you should eat. Just keep lots of legal snacks around. Hard boiled eggs are easy. Roll-ups of just meat and mayo and a little cheese in a romaine lettuce leaf are very satisfying. You've done great and don't need to limit yourself when hunger strikes. Try starting your day with a little more fat -- an extra slice of bacon or piece of sausage maybe. Let us know how you're doing. You look GREAT!!!

Re: Knocked out of ketosis completely?!

Ok thanks guys! I was just really worried that I'd done something and knocked myself out 110%! Because Monday, I had to remind myself to eat like every other day, Tuesday, I was in pain because I was so hungry - something I've never experienced on Atkins. So I ate what I now consider a normal portion for me at this stage, and it didnt help. I did keep eating, I eat til I'm satisfied, but I was simply worried because it happened so suddenly and it's so out of the norm now.

But if I'm ok, I'll just stuff my face with legals haha

              Thanks again all

Re: Knocked out of ketosis completely?!

Congrats on the 25 pound shrinking job you have done so far.

don't stuff your face, just eat till your hunger is satisfied.

Look and see if any of your foods have been reformulated. I know one person's salad dressing changed the formula once and she had cravings from the new recipe.

Also you might be defiecent in a vital nutriant or two. check your fitday reports page and see if you are low in any vits or minerals because of your food choices.

if you are tired all the time check and see if you need to move up the carb ladder with another 5 net carbs. when we up our activities and exercise our bodies can handel more carbs and we burn more fuel giving us too low blood sugar.

Yup may be time to Move forward with your Woe and make the step to OWL. And like 2BIG said you could be low in essential nutrients and so your Body begins craving to satify that need But until you start gettign enough of that Nutrient your Hunger Probably won't subside.

DO you take any Vitamins If so which ones????

I had this Happen when I was anemic I couldn't eat enough to fill my Hunger I fet lethargic and tired so I actually went and got tested that's when I found out I had Pernicious Anemia it's fairly rare and also Iron deficieancey anemia. I began Getting my b12 shot and taking Iron and WOW Peppy. SO it could definately be your lack of some nutrient.
