I bought some flax seed a couple of months ago, but only used it a few times. I have kept it in the refrigerator. I just don't seem to use it much, but it is nice to have around. Is it still good?

Re: How long does flax seed stay fresh?
It depends. Is it whole seed or ground? Is the bag tightly sealed or not? Is it in the coldest part of the frig or the warmer parts?Originally posted by MomtofourI bought some flax seed a couple of months ago, but only used it a few times. you can smell and taste the flax. If it smells and/or tastes rancid or "off", throw it out.
Seeds and nuts have a longer shelf life if stored in the freezer.

I forgot that I posted this. LOL I remembered today when I saw the flax.
It is ground, in a bag that keeps out moisture. It is in the coldest part of the frig and it smells fine, so I am going to use it again and see how it is.
