    Hoodia spam/scam

I've posted two message threads on ADBB in the past week or so and I've recieved email form "members" direct to my email .. and not as a private message regarding a Hoodia site .. anyone else have this happen to them?

I'm guessing that these apparently well meaning individuals are spammers .. anyone have any insight on this?

    Thanks

What's a Hoodia site? Do you know who the emails came from? I've never gotten anything like that. Did it show email addresses they came from? I'm really curious about what a Hoodia site is..

I have no idea what Hoodia is .. I would guess some kind of slimming aid .. I'm just sceptical about the nature of these emails to me

I've heard of the Hoodia diet... I think it's basically a supplement/diet fad. No, I haven't had any spam emails about it. I'd guess that perhaps you had a cookie tracked from a website that you may have visited. I'd just delete them and move on.

If you don't want to receive emails from users, you can turn this off in your User CP under "Edit Options". Make sure to uncheck where it says "Receive Emails from Other Members".

                  Someone should alert Admin.

There are ways to track who is doing this.

                    Yes - Perry is right.
forward the offending emails or send details of them to admin for them to look at.

I had read about Hoodia some time ago. It is bad enough that someone is poaching on the ADBB, but the worst thing is that the poor San bushmen look like being cheated out of royalties for this product if anything comes of it.

I delete all emails from people I do not know, and never, ever, open attachments unless from very trusted sources. And I run MAc at home, so no worries about the commoner viruses.
