  • I will need help!!!

    Hi guys,

    As today is Valentines say, we are going for a lovely Romantic Meal tonight. I've been on Atkins since December and have lost about 21lbs, and have dropped a dress size.

    But tonight I will be cheating and having the lovers dessert to share...So....tomorrow 15th February 2006, I will back on VERY VERY VERY strict Induction. So I will be dropping in regularly for support.

    I know I can get back on this WOE after tonight, but I am surely allowed one slip. I know I wont eat the potatoes or rice with dinner, but we will be having a bottle of wine and a dessert.....

    im cooking dinner tonight and i think i may need some recipe suggestions as its a special occasion i really dont know what to cook that wont make me cheat... and i wish i could have a dessert but its not happening! Help with some romantic recipes would be great oh and i weighed myself this morning (end of my 3rd week on atkins so thats another 5lb lost!! incentive that i WONT be having dessert!)

      can you have a low carb dessert?
      Here we are having a romantic diiner home so I can better control what we are eating.
      I dont think I would feel better or in the mood for love after having eaten somethng I know I shouldnt.

          I know I shouldn't cheat today, but I am absolutely determined that I will go back on it strictly tomorrow, and I have gonenearly 3 months with only one cheat, so I feel that I can have this, and then go back on it strictly.


          I've been ill, so haven't been able to excercise, but am getting better now, so will have a nice night tonight and then back to the grindstone tomorrow!!!

          I KNOW I WILL DO THIS!!! I KNOW I CAN GO BACK ON THIS WOE after tonight.

          I am very confident and I will get down to a UK size 12.....well before my birthday in July....

            Well, it's your decision to go off plan. As I can see you are determined to do it, so there is no reason for us to beg and plead with you not to do so.

            Just be aware that the alcohol and dessert can set your weight loss back, since your body isn't used to the alcohol carbs and whatever dessert you are planning to eat.

            But my question to you is this....You've been on extended Induction for about 2 months. Why didn't you progress to OWL? If you had moved to OWL in January, you would have been up to the berry rung and possibly the alcohol rung, so you would have been able to enjoy a dessert of fresh strawberries, cream and a glass of wine or champagne without "going off the diet plan".

            And don't give me that "OWL would slow my weight loss" nonsense because you still lose weight on OWL.

              I didn't move on, because I feel I still have more to lose via Induction.

              One of the other reasons to cheat tonight, is because my partner wants us to have a lovely meal together, with both of us able to enjoy the 3 courses that we've paid for. It's not something I do every week. But he feels guilty eating it in front of me or drinking it in front of me.

              I know it will throw me out of Ketosis, and in all honesty probably make me feel crap, but I just want one day when I can be normal and eat what I want.

              I will absolutely, positively be going back on it tomorrow, without a shadow of a doubt, but just for tonight I am going to sin. Once I am down to a size 12 (UK) I will then move on to OWL, 12 is my lowest size ever and I want to get back to that. I've never been lower and doubt I will get lower than that even on this WOE, but that's when I'll move on to OWL and then Maintenance.

              I know you all disagree with this, but I have to allow myself the odd slip, planned in advance, and then the recovery planned. Otherwise, I'll slip unexpectedly and never get back on it. Does that make any sense? I know some people who have lost on Atkins and maintain, who have one day a month where they eat whatever they like....and then go back....it works for them....that's the way I itend to play it.

                For what its worth.

                Whenever I go out for a meal here in England, I always have the cheeseboard for my dessert, and leave the biscuits.

                It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!




                I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

                  I think that if you are going to have dessert, then have dessert. Its not the end of the world, and we all didnt get here by just eating one dessert one day. I would be careful if you will be drinking a lot of alcohol, but c'mon, dont worry as long as you get back on the wagon. And of course you can lose your weight by July. I have gained 10lbs since my wedding in July, and I working on losing it. But I can definetely tell you that by me eating one dessert or anyone eating one dessert one day, it did not make or break our weight. It was over a period of time, that we all gained our weight. Have a great Valentines Day!!!!

                        I would've done that, except it wasn't on offer! It was a choice of Peach and Passion Fruit tart with Ice Cream, Chocolate Brownies with Ice Cream, of a fruit dipped in Chocolate as it was a set menu.

                        I had my starter of baked Camenbert (only had 2 slices of bread to dip in and boy did I feel it later!) and then main course was Fillet steak with Cherry Tomatoes and Green Beans, I didn't eat the potatoes. We had a bottle of champagne and a bottle of red wine. and I finished off with the fruit dipped in chocolate sauce (and in all honesty, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought, but it was nice)

                        However, this morning, I got up early, did my excercise video, have already started on my 2 litres of water, I will be having a cheese omlette for lunch with some mixed salad, and chicken breast with broc and cauliflower tonight. So you see, I am back on track.

                        I am allowing my next 'cheat/treat' to be on Easter, where I am allowed one small easter egg! This way I wont get caught out if I'm tempted as I know I have something to look forward too.

                          Im happy you had fun last night. YOur cheating method is really interesting, I think Im going to give it a try too.

                            Hi there,

                            Most on this website wouldn't advise having planned cheats, and I don't blame them. But having been a yoyo dieter for years, and I know my self very well, I KNOW that if I don't plan a cheat one will creep up on me and then I'll fall off this WOE completely!!!

                            If you think you can be disciplined enough to get straight back on it, then it might work for you. Today I have had some cravings, but I know they will go in a couple of days. So it's all ok.

                            Next goal is to be a size smaller (size UK12) by July for my birthday. I've never been lower than that before, so not sure if I can go lower.....but size 12 is where I am happier and if I can get to a size ten, well......I think I'll pass out!!!

                            One thing I did want to ask some peeps here, is, does it really matter if I miss breakfast? I really cannot stomach it!! I have enough trouble eating all I am supposed to eat on this diet, let alone breaky. I haven't eaten breaky since I was 7years old, and it makes me feel so sick.......

                              Emz. 64oz in our money is 2 litres or roughly 4 pints. But I would always strive for mor than that if I were you

                              With regards to the following though, I would strongly disaprove - its almost as if you are asking to fall off of the plan. i cant see any reason to cheat at all.
