  • Valentine's Day Confession

Okay everyone, time to speak up. This is a *safe* place where you can spill your guts about what you ate, or didn't eat....be honest. Oh yea, one last thing....this isn't ment to condone cheating in ANY way (it's a naughty thing to do...), just a place to talk about it and get it off your chest...

Okay, I'll go first. See, yesterday was also my first wedding anniversary, not just Valentine's Day. I had planned a few weeks ago to have a planned cheat...which I decided later was a BAD idea. I thought to myself, why eat the foods that got me here in the first place?? So I decided against it. Well, being as brilliant as I am, I never told my husband, and he ordered Olive Garden to go!! The table was all fancy w/ candles and roses and all kinds of stuff. (I'll post a pic later)
Well, he orders my FAVORITE pre Atkins food, chicken alfredo w/ shrimp. I ate a little bit of noodles, and the chicken and shrimp. I know the sauce wasn't good for me, but what was I to do? He planned ALL this for me?!? And DH is NOT the smooth kinda guy. He always forgets b-days and stuff so this was a HUGE surprise. I couldn't throw my dinner away!! That would crush him!

So....then he gets me some sugar free chocolates, which was SOOO sweet of him to think about. He said he didn't wanna have me stray too far off. I know I know....alfredo and sugar free candy....gotta love him

Well, I had a SMALL glass for Champaign, for our toast, and a tiny fork full of the top of our wedding cake.

All in all, I had a GREAT time, but I did stray. I am lucky enough to still be in ketosis. I wish I had said something..I never expected him to do that in a MILLION years...I seriously underestimated him...

    So....what's your story???

Really, you had no choice but to cheat. Your husband would have been very hurt if you refused his dinner. And think of it this way, you didn't pig out, you controlled your cheat and that's what this WOL is all about, learning control.

I came SOOOOO close... I baked my husband a heart shaped big fat double fudge brownie and decorated it.. It took everything I had not to taste it but I am so scared one lick of frosting will take me out of Ketosis that I didn't do it... But boy I wanted too... Really badly wanted too...

Alfredo sauce is basically butter, cream and cheese, so unless they put something else in there it's perfectly fine.

A tiny bit of good news for you -- that Olive Garden alfredo sauce really isn't too bad for you! Actually, when I go there I order a side of broccoli with alfredo sauce instead of pasta. There's heavy cream, butter, parm, etc. in there. That was super sweet of DH to plan that for you... glad you had a great V-Day and anniversary!

              Re: Valentine's Day Confession

I'm glad you started this thread. I have a serious confession to make! I had probably the worst eating day ever since I started Atkins. I'm basically out of food until pay day on Friday, so I'm doing the best I can to scrounge but I was so busy yesterday with school stuff the only thing I ate between 8am when I woke up and 8pm when I finally got a chance to make a little bit of food was low carb Reeses that a friend of mine had bought for me.

Fortunetely they don't have the awful laxative effect on me, but they made me SO GASSY. I could barely make it through my bowl of green beans and couldn't even finish my hamburger, I was so queasy.

However, all in all it could've been worse.

Well I can honestly say I stuck with it. No candy for me and a steak for luch and dinner. Your husband did an awesome job. You should be very proud of him!

                  Re: Valentine's Day Confession

You DH seems really sweet! My DF and I (I thought) agreed that we wouldn't make a big deal out of V Day because it's so consumerist (and we are just too cool...) I bought him a few video games and nothing really big. When I got out of school he started driving into the City and it turns out he had made reservations at our favorite seafood restaurant! The lobster pan roast I ordered wasn't so bad since I got it without rice, but it was the popcorn lobster appitizer and chocolate bienets (sp?) that really killed me. Not to mention the two bottles of wine.

Ugh. I'm too embarrassed to even put it on my fitday.

I had the should I or shouldn't I eat my wedding cake dilema, on our first wedding anniversary. When it came time, I had my husband taste a bite of it, and he said it tasted freezer burned. I had the tiniest bite - yep, very freezer burned. And then we threw the rest of the cake out, and I made a legal dessert for us instead.

                      Re: Valentine's Day Confession

I had the non-Valentine's Day, since I am not involved with anyone right now. But I had lunch with my 4 male bosses! Woo-hoo - and they paid! I had a bowl of chicken with yellow curry sauce. I was a little nervous that there was sugar in the curry and there probable was. However, my Ketostix only showed a drop from my normal 80 to 40. I know that today, being back on the wagon, I will be just fine. Besides, the curry was fantastic!

By the way, I made the Spinach Lasagna from Linda's Low Carbs Menus. Fan-flippin-tastic!!!!!! It was delicious, to the point of not missing the pasta at all! I'm really loving this low carb cooking!

I am, however, too lazy at the moment to change my ticker - but I have lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks. Prior to starting Atkins, I had lost 20 pounds over a year. So, my grand total is 33 pounds! Yippee!

Happy Day After V-Day to all!

Ahh... Reese's cups are little peanut butter cups... chocolate with a peanut butter center, they come wrapped in little black muffin-like wrappers and they have scalloped edges.

                          They are evil.

Reeses are the reason that I'm alive, basically. It's a brand of peanut butter cup, however, it's made by the brand Hershey and I don't think Hershey products are in Australia and New Zealand (they weren't about 5 years ago when I met a girl from Auckland).
