ok i feel sooo sick right now and i feel like i have failed at life..... but i didn't over do my carbs....i seriosuly went on a binge(which i do when i have a lot to study) i ate soooo much but i didn't go over 20 carbs.....but i still feel like i failed. here's what i ate
    1 egg in the morning(9am)

3 cups decaf coffee black (thro out the day)

1/2 cup of tuna w/tsp of mayo ontop of a cup of salad(luncharound 3pm)
and two turkey no carbs(i checked both nutrition and ingredence) hotdogs.....already over eating and it's only 3pm

and then TWO BURGERS one with 1 once of cheddar cheese (at nine)
    and tea with one splenda

i think i am going to explode but i really don't think i went over 20 carbs...so how bad did i set myself back by over eating?????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? (even looking at this i feel like such a screw up).....

is there anything i can do to help with me tonight or do i just have to shake it off and try again tomorrow

    Re: what if....

Totally stop kicking yourself!!! It is never good to eat when we are not truely hungry but this is not that bad...Really. I entered the items you said you ate into fitday, and as long as the hot dogs were without buns and the burgers too...at the max that you ate is listed under my name for 2/15/06 if you want to view the whole thing follow the link http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...ner=BeccaResRN

Egg, whole, fried Coffee, brewed, prepared with tap water, decaffeinated Lettuce, raw Tuna, canned, water pack Mayonnaise, regular Frankfurter or hot dog, turkey Ground beef, regular, cooked Cheese, natural, Cheddar or American type Tea, NS as to type, unsweetened splenda Totals calories 1272
Calories Eaten Fat 64% Carbs:8 2% Fiber:1 Protein:34% and that was using largest burger not lean, fried egg and turkey dogs that had a little carb in it............

So look you didn't overdo it that bad...your carbs are still way low. Just remember how miserable you feel when you stuff yourself...if you do indeed freel stuffed...were you really hungry? If you were than you did nothing wrong...if not remember not to allow youself to fall back into the old habits of stuffing our boardom and stress.

You are OK, you will be OK, drink some water, try to de-panic and just start out better tomorrow and listen to your body and how you feel and stop before your miserable

        Re: what if....

ok so now that i have calmed down a bit and slept i realise that my little "incident" was not as bad as i had previously thought...

i think that i am soo used to thinking of anyfood=BADBADBAD when you are trying to loose weight that the fact that ate sooo really clouded my mind when in realitiy I did eat over the amount of calories i should be eating....but only by around 300....and i didn't over do it on carbs either....i just over did it a bit on calories...

it's hard to get over a life long fight with food and start to see eating as something other than BAD

thank you soo much BeccaRes! that really helped!!!
and rational i got the turkey hot dogs at a weird, little health/organic/diet store kinda like a whole foods....

wow, i didn't think you overdid it at all.... there are much worse things you could of done to your diet, say a pkg of 6 glazed krispy creme donuts, doritos and a 2 liter of coke. Well then i'd have to say whooaaa nelly, but hey you didn't and you're going to be ok

                Re: what if....

I don't know what stage of Atkins you are on, but I have to be wondering why not have some veggies at every meal?.

From what I can see you aren't eating too much Ciaobella, you are eating too little. Please go to the induction forum and read all the stickys there and also re-read the 2002 DANDR. You simply cannot wing this way of eating.

Why such a small breakfast? Just one egg?

Why feel like you will explode for eating more meat? Being able to eat well and stay full is one of the reasons Atkins works. You can have "liberal" amounts of meat, fish, and eggs, plus a little cheese and 3 cups of veggies.

I'm not seeing that you did anything wrong meatwise.
This is not a low fat diet. You can eat well and still lose sizes.

i feel like i have failed at life
I'm concerned about the way you are talking to yourself.

This is very masochistic talk. Would you tell a friend they had failed at life because of what they ate? You must be your own best friend. Wrap yourself up in loving words and kindness.

What if you start right this moment giving yourself the emotional support you totally deserve?
Suffering is necessary until you realize it is unnecessary. Eckhart Tolle

                  Re: what if....

                  hey all
i think that a little background would give more light to this situation...i have a HUGE problem with binge eating...as soon as anyfood gets in my mouth i feel like i can't stop eating, i never feel full ever. So i have to make my meals sit down eat them and then make myself stop or else i'll eat my way through the fridge without a second thought. I mean it i have literaly eaten a bag of cookies a whole large pizza and wings plus a big bottle of soda with out realizing it and still feeling hungry...

this is something i have been working really hard at breaking this. It becomes a huge problem when i am stressed b/c i used to reward myself for working hard with food (lots chocolate etc for paper writing and studying). and yesterday i was wicked stressed out about life (tons of papers and research to do, tons of press releases to write/legal briefs to look over, thinking about not getting a job when i graduate, having no health insurance, having no social security when i am older, loosing all my reproductive rights, dying of a nucelar strike when we can't pay off our massive debt to china, or dying of the bird flu....etc etc) and so to reward myself i cooked that huge dinner after i had eating only 4 hours prior to that....and in my true style i didn't stop eating.... in addition i ALWAYS leave work and school stuff to the last min and tend to just wing-it and it always ends with me going crazy and pulling all nighters and breaking down etc trying to maintain my ridiculous standards..and i do...and then i swear i'll get better at time management and then i just do the same darn thing....

i was upset mainly about the fact that i was going back to old habits(both binge and workwise) more so than i was upset about what i had been eating. At the time i was so upset with life that i kinda broke and i couldn't really express what was really bothering me.

thanks again to all of you who have left great posts. i am totally not just winging this woe or thinking of it as a fad i just kinda went a little bezerk that day and could see myself sliping back into a really unhealthy place if i didn't address the issue and stop it. thanks for the concern and help!

ps i did a lot better today and had a really REALLY good day could have something to do with the AMAZING WEATHER.

                    Re: what if....

using food as a reward is one habit we all had to day with on this way. Now would be a good time to sit down with paper and decide what you can use that isn't food to rewqard yourself with and then impliment that rerwarding system.

Most of us can also relate to that eating too. Once thing we really need to do is have no distractions when we are eating because if you are watching TV or sometrhing thast you are concentrating on the part of the brain that is supposed to tell other parts you are eating doesn't so you keep eating more then you would have. Dr Atkins discusses relearning about hunger not fullness hunger in DANDR. try to practice it for a week and see where you are. sit down with the amount of food you think you need for a meal. then eat part of it and stop. if staring at that food makes you want it get up and leave. in say 10-15 min check and see if you fel hungry and need more food. if you do eat some more of that plate and stop. repeat until you decide you are not hungry and then stop. Knowing on Atkins you can eat again in an hour helps deal with the will I make it to the next meal on just this little bit.

Granted it will take time and having just discussed this with several folk in the cal topic it isn't something anybody just picks up on day one and runs with al the way to goal but it is something we all need to get hold of.

Now about that stress. Did you know many foods minic neurotransmitters? Your Dr Brain does and it can tell which foods you can use based on your past experience with them to calm you make you happy energize you and many other things. This is where food journaling with the Ws answered will help you see patterns so you can take steps to fit things without foods. write down where you were who was with you what you were doing why how much you ate what you ate and how you felt before during after and an hr after. Our Dr Brain wants to help us feel good all the time and if prescribing choclate for stress will un stress you even if it is just a temp fix it will do so. Once you identify the triggering events or foods you can begin to avoid them until you have better control of yourself. I still can't eat with my diabetic PCOS obese sister cause watching her do what she is doing to herself with foods even if I don't follow her pattern of eating wwill later drive me to crave high carb foods and just want to stuff the whole store shelf of them in my mouth. So I can talk or visit without any food but i just will not weat with her period. I'm sure you will see your patterens emerge.

the next thing you need to do is find a sub that actually treats the issue you are having. like if you are stressed exercisew will use up those bad ofr you chems your body has produced and generate some cool brain chems to make you feel great. choclate has cheimicals in it that give you the mellow feel good but they don't use up the stress hormones and so you still got them and when the temp effect of the choclate even legal low carb cchoclate wears off in an hour ot 2 you need another dose. some folk can mellow out with meditation. but if you were tired and craved energy foods then exercise would just make you tireder and not help so you need a solution for every thing you use food as the drug of chose for.

                    you can do this.

And if you should be shoving the whole fridge down your throat as soon as you realize what you are doing practice carb harm managment and stop so you can minimize the damage done to your Atkins ketosis. if you do this each time you will be amazed at how much smaller each breakout period will be.

                    Happy low carbing

I don't think worry every solved one single problem EVER!!!! I also have trouble knowing when to stop, but my problem has always been food taste so darn GOOD I never wanted to stop.
