    Hi
my prob is that i am still doing induction after trying to do owl three times with no success..
i feel happy/satisfied at 20grams of carb..but since i have a little to loose now..i tried to move to OWL the real prob is..that there are not much veggies from acceptable list available and i am tired of eating cauliflower \ cabbage lattuce and aubergine..
adding another 5 grams of these veggis will make me differntly want to throw up..
plus i dont drink..so alcohol round is out already..
i wont be able to eat nuts/seeds since summer is setting in here and it is very hot here in summer..sometimes 50degrees.
as far as barries are concerned only starwberries are availbe here and that too ater 2 months..
and i am cluless how to do my OW..should i start anyother rung or what?
i tried to skip veggies rung and did nuts rung but i was eating more than i could and due to high glymic index i craved carbs...so fell of the wagon three imes..i am back at induction today so it will take 14 days..and i know i can loose 5 lbs..i am currently at110(since i lowered my nicotine and gained 2 lbs already)...so there are 5 lbs left and i dont know how to go through all the rungs..and then premaintance and maintance
if i loose 5 lbs during induction..then 5 lbs are left for other three phases, but i think i will loose more than 5lbs in other phases.
should i stay in induction or move up?

What kind of vegetables do you have available to you in your part of the world? As you have noticed Atkins is geared towards Western tastebuds. We've had/have ADBB members in Asia and in SouthEast Asia who eat the native vegetables as part of their Atkins. Leafy green vegetables, bittermelon, okra, certain types of squashes like the "opo' melon or Chinese okra http://www.hormel.com/kitchen/glossa...6034&catitemid= are relatively lower carb.

If you can get a list of the names of your native vegetables, we can try to find the carb counts for them.

okay so you are quitting smoking and moving to OWl at the same time wow.

are those the only veggies availble where you live or the only veggies yo enjoy eating? If they are the only ones you enjoyit is time to do like american parents do and hid some veggies in the other foods. meat loaf is a great place to hid grated carots summer quash greens and others soft when cooked veggies.
you can cook and puree them up as soups and sauces to get your veggies in. if that is all you have in your land can yiou get some canned vegies like tomotoes and peppers? I cut zuchinni up thin when I was inducting and had zuchinni noodles with spaghetti and meat balls as a meal.

there are some asian vegies that aren't avail in the american market you can use too. several mushrooms and some green veggies I've ask a former moderator of ADBB from Janpan to come list for you.

How about soups? creamed vegie soups can taste very good when you add the correct herbs. Have you tried riceing your cauliflower and using some as a bed for your meats to flavor? ince you like cabbage have you tried it as saurkraut? or kimchee? how about cabbage soup? it is sort of like chile but has cabbage in it.

cucumber(wont be avaible in 2 two weeks tme)
beet root(wont be availabe in two weeks time)
green peas(but high glymic index wil make me crave things)
french beans(dont know if it is acceptable or not)
          capsicum(green ones)
Tori(looks like zhuchini but i dont know if itis a type o f zhuchini or what,it is dark green in colour shape is just like zhuccini, but it doesnt have a cap/bud on it like)

i just cut it and stir fry or eat it raw
i am ok with soups..but i am always always hungry after 15 minutes or so if i take soups...soups are served as a starter here..so old habits kickin..and i unintentionally wait for more food afterwards.

You can skip rungs. For example, some people skip the alcohol rung because they don't drink alcohol. My alcohol rung consisted of 1-2 tablespoons of dry sherry, madeira, marsala or vermouth---I use it in sauces or to marinate meat. Some people skip the dairy rung because they are lactose intolerant.

If by "french beans" you mean the haricot vert (click this link to see the pic http://www.hormel.com/kitchen/glossa...5522&catitemid=), they are acceptable.

By the way, it's not the beet root itself that is okay for Induction. It's the green leafy tops of the beet root that are.

Turnip greens and mustard greens are edible and acceptable as well.

Re: 2big,Megs or anyone with Good advice

just wanted to give my 2 cents. I have been doing Atkins in Japan for a while now. And I totally understand your problem. It is hard to find vegetables that are on the list.
My advice is 1. try new things. You said you never had pumpkin? Try it.
                2. try vegies you don't like, cooked or arranged differently. I hate tomatoes, but found I can eat them if cooked into soups and stews.
                3. research veggies you do have a available to you. It takes a litte work, but you should be able to find the carbs in vegies native to Pakistan. Here in Japan, I do sometimes eat veggies not on the list, but I do make sure their carb valies are similiar to listed items.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

do you like yogurt? that is a rung 2 food as well.

rung 3 is nuts and seeds are their seeds you like to eat?

How about getting some veggies seeds and growing your own garden in a pot? I have out of season veggies in my pot in the kitchen. it gets too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter for some but I just grow them indors when they don't do well out doors my greens pot is constantly reseeded and harvested.

kraut is a german dish of cabbage that has been salted and cured for months. very sour tasting but good.
kimchee is Korean cabbage and hot spices cured for months too.

you can use your Atkins vegie soup as your appetizer too and then have your protein and fat part too. if your Atkins foods to yor meal style.

that is quite a list of veggies there you can eat.

can you find pictures of the veggies you don't know if they are legal and we can identify them for you?

                    here is zuchinni
this is called a bottle gourd here is this what you are talking about? if so carb count is about the same as the zuchinni

I have discovered slicing some cucumber, (I like it thin) adding lemon juice (a squeeze or two and add the carbs) and then sprinkle with dried chili or powdered red chili. Makes my lips smack just typing about it.

1:they are going to be out of season in 2 weeks or so
2:they have a high carb count..and i dont want to consume 8/10 carbs on one cucumber
