  • Low Carb Ice Cream

Hey there. I was wondering, DH picked me up some low carb mint chocolate chip icecream at the store lastnight! Ahh My favorite!!! I am staying away though, not to worry

My question is this...when are things like low carb ice cream allowed. I know that is would be sparingly, not an everyday thing. Would it be the dairy rung? I have a LONG way to go, b/c I'm still in extended induction, a plan to be for a bit...but I'm just curiuos. It's even made w/ Splenda..it was sweet of him, but I know I can't Thanks everyone!

PS It's 5 net carbs per 1/2 cup! Doesn't even seem worth it! LOL

    ITS NOT!

I'd kiss him on the cheek, then, when he's not home .. toss it in the garbage.

Hahahaha!! I know! Just b/c it's sugar free or has splenda doesn't mean I can have it! It was a very nice gesture, but not worth it. I just don't see things like that being allowed at all, at any point b/c why have an okay version of what made you fat, well me fat, in the first place? Just doesn't make sence, but I have to ask anyways!

        Re: Low Carb Ice Cream

does it have 5 net total minus fiber or 5 net all the franken foods subtracted?

you can make your own using ziplock baggies or nested tuperware like a cup size inside a quart size filled with ice and salt ( the baggies tends to leak at the corners so be careful if you go that route to be sure you have good seal on both before you start shaking.) put your cream your sweetner and your flavoring extract seeds creshed mint leaves whatever in the small one and then put it inside the big one sealed up tight and fill the rest of the spacve in the big one with ice and salt. seal the big one and start shaking. you can put on some music and get a good 20 min aerobic workout too while you shake. then remove the icecream container and becareful not to let the salt water inside unseal it and enjoy. if portion control is your issue just make it one serving at a time cause freezing it will get you a block of frozen cream not the stuff in the cartons cause you don't hve stabilizers in yours. some folk add the flavor the last few min when they get to the berry rung so as not to have mushed berries from all the shaking but then you risk the salt contamination. you can use table salt for this and even the fock salt isn't poisonous just tastes bad.

Becausae the amount of dairy needed to get that 1.2 cup serving you need to be on the 2nd rung of OWL for the basic ingredients in it and depending what your other ingredients are as high as rung 7 for peach.

        happy low carbing.

Thanks so much! What great info! I'll have to try that one day when I get farther along!

The 5 carbs is after the alcohols and fiber have been subtracted.

Too funny!! I was just looking at that stuff in the store today!!! I felt that is was a 'frakenfood' so I left it there!!! I did find no sugar added bacon and sausage at my grocery store (Glens Market) and was pretty happy about that!! Thanks everyone!!!! GOODLUCK!!!!

                The low carb ice cream:

                (1) doesn't taste as good as the real thing (pretty icy and gritty, if you ask me)
                (2) has sugar alcohols, with all their bloating effects
                (3) is a MAJOR trigger food, at least for me
                (4) causes me gain weight just as much as real ice cream
                (5) is NOT calorie free
                (6) is loaded with chemicals
                (7) doesn't give you the satisfaction of making your own

Thanks lawyer chick, THAT'S the break down I needed! LOL

I'll probably be so disguisted with foods like that by the time I get to the dairy rung anyways!! Thanks for your opinions everyone, they are truly appreciated!
