  • who is your biggest supporter?

I sometimes wonderif it isjust me or if there are more ppl with the same problem.
Apart from this forum. who is your biggest support? Do you have anyone to support you?
Im alone here,my family calls me and asks me how Im doing, thats all.
My bf, feeds on choclate cookies and cakies. Once I asked him if he could stopp having somethings home, or if he could put them on the top shelves of the pantry. " you dont want to see them, dont look.", this says it all I guess.
If I dont want to go for dinner somewhere he just "so now you arent coming because of your stupid diet??"It is not only the lack of support...I dont know I never get a complement... Sometimes it would mean the worl to hear that Im thinner or look good. Even if it was lie.

    Oh sweetie. Do you have any friends over there? Girlfriends? Fortunately my dh is very supportive and he really enjoys the meals. We do have cookies and things around the house, unfortunately, but I can deal with it. There are some things I wouldn't be able to resist so I don't buy those things and the family mostly understands. Other than dh and the kids though, there's just you guys (the ADBB family). We're here for you. {{{{{{Eleonore}}}}}}

      Eleonore
I am sorry to hear your DH is not supportive to your new WOE.

Mine has been terrific even though he cant resist eating cakes and sweets when I am not around!!

He has been my greatest cheerleader and even tells shop assistants when I am clothes shopping and people in the supermarket queue (!!) how much weight I have lost and how. He loves to brag about my losses!

In a way because of this I have been even more determined not to stray from the Atkins Way.

But he really has no proper understanding of the science and has never read the book - he just knows it has worked for me, and eats what i prepare for him. When he was in weightloss mode I kept 2 fitday accounts going, one for each of us and would let him know what he was 'allowed' to eat and when.

My main support concerning how Atkins works has been this support board adn all the members of my ADBB family. Any time I was worried about my menus or other aspects of the WOE I could post a question and before long several members came up with an answer or suggestion for me.

Heartfelt and massive thanks to all you ADBBers out there across the world!!

Now you are a member of our ADBB family, Eleonore, you also have a huge team of supporters, so come here any time you need encouragement or just to let off steam when things go wrong.

On my own over here too Eleonore. My family aren't the least bit interested. I buy and cook them 'their' carby stuff, and do my own thing. My biggest support comes from this board (yay everyone, you're all terrific!) and my online buddies.

I'm pretty much on my own. But, after 4 years, that's okay with me. I figure if people scorn my WOL after losing 40 pounds and keeping it off easily .. poop on 'em!

My DH loves me. He tells me all the time that 'he's the luckiest guy in the world.' That's enough for me.

my husband is uber supportive! he brings nothing into the house that isn't what i'm eating and if he wanto to go out to eat he'll look at the nutritional info online first and ask me if what they have is ok - he's just a really nice guy and that's exactly why i married him! i've had boyfriends like your in the past and, well, they just didn't last long lol!

even my 6 year old will ask if something is healthy for me and ask if it's 'on my diet' - so cute - takes after his daddy . . .

Re: who is your biggest supporter?

My DH is a great source of support, even though he does not follow the same WOE that I do. At first, he wasn't. He didn't like the idea of Atkins. Since he's seen how much better I feel and how far I've come and he is now a great support. He cooks most of our meals since he gets home first, so he has actually modified his way of cooking to suit Atkins friendly meals.

At work, a fellow teacher follows this WOL and is a great support. She has been at goal for 4 years now, so she serves as an inspiration to me as someone who has lost weight and kept it off!

This board is also a great source of support. The before and after pictures continue to amaze me! The exercise challenges continue to keep me moving. Just reading about how great people are doing makes it easy to continue.

I've been following Atkins since April 5, 2005 and have not gone off plan. I haven't cheated once. I continue following the plan each day. I feel better than I have in a long time. I've lost 72 lbs and have gone down 8 sizes! I'm wearing a smaller size now than I did in high school! This WOL is the great! I'm thankful everyday that I found the Atkins WOL.

Re: who is your biggest supporter?

The people on this board are so wonderful, I love them all and they give so much support it's wonderful!

The one person in my life who supports me, that goes so far out of the way to make sure I'm doing well, day in and day out, is Deklen. I love him so much. He sends me messages to remind me to take care of myself, to eat right, drink my water, take my pills and remember that he's thinking about me always, and that is such a boost. He reminds me to exercise, and to do a good job at it! He lets me rant, rave, cry, laugh, the whole shooting match, right on his shoulder. Without him, I wouldn't have come back here.

Second to that, this place is my rock. The thing that keeps me working hard and keeps me thinking of others and my own struggle daily too. So many people here, without Deklen to help me so much, I would be so hard pressed to name any one person here, so many help me get through every day.

                Deklen, I love you.
Guys and ladies here who take time out of their day to see how I'm doing and cheer me on, I love you too.

Re: who is your biggest supporter?

Same boat as you, sweetie. When I started, my DH (now XDH) wasn't very supportive. I found more support from the centipede that was walking across my counter this morning - BTW - guess what happened to him? . For my first 25lbs it was just ADBB. Now my 2 year old daughter is a major support. She doesn't say much, but the fact that she enjoys her meat and green veggies and fruits and spits out the bread and refuses any potato that doesn't come in the form of a french fry (it has to be a GOOD one too!) shows me that I am teaching her proper eating. I use that and the leering, ogling looks from dirty old men to keep me pumped up for now. 10-20 more lbs and I'll have more than just those dirty old men to keep me going .

Hmm, this has really got my noodle going....

My sister tried Atkins but has IBS and had some difficulties...
DH just eats anything he likes...
and my Mother and other 2 sisters are Weigh Watchers. I am a loner (Thank God!)
My in laws think low cal/low fat is the only way to go...
My father did lose a lot of weight on induction, and has kept it off thanks to exercising like a madman, but never followed through..never even read the book.

I guess it's safe to say you guys are my biggest, and well only, supporters. You are there to say "Great Job" or kick my in the pants when I need it, but either way, you guys are it for me

Oh yea, Joey is my little supporter too! He always smiles and makes funny smelly faces when I cook my chicken..it's really cute! He also ALWAYS crawls into the kitchen and plays with a bottle of water...I know he's just reminding me

Well, my DH is VERY supportive (but he never said a bad word about all the weight I put on since we met which is 29 pounds!!) and has always said whatever makes me happy makes him happy! I tried to get him to try this with me, but no luck! I have also found so much support here, I thank God every day I found ADBB!! I just did a google search on the Atkins diet and found this site. How lucky (or was it fate???)!! Anyway, anytime you need support, we are here for you!!!!
What would we do without it?

Re: who is your biggest supporter?

DH and I are doing Atkins together... he's a big support, but he's the weak one when it comes to cheating, so he uses me for a support more than I use him... he has cheated twice since we've started, and I haven't cheated at all, nor do I plan to. But it is really wonderful to have someone to share this WoE with, and also nice that he doesn't go out buying awful things (going out to eat is tough though... he also refuses to go to some places because he knows he'll order something other than what he wants--I say, you can force yourself not to, but he's having none of that). So... I'd say that ADBB is a huge support to me, reaffirms for me that it's good to be strict with this WoE, and my biggest supporter is myself! I want it more than anyone and I'm stubborn as sin.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.
