  • Drinks/alcohol for my birthday celebration

I went out with friends from work to a club and had drinks to celebrate my birthday. I haven't had any alcohol in a long time. I had 2 low carb beers and some vodka with SF cranberry water. I really got quite tipsy, probably since I haven't drank in a while.

Next morning, Monday, weight is not up....MASSIVE HANGOVER.
Felt really awful until about noon, ran/jogged for 20 mins and drank lots of water...a little better.

Today, tuesday, my weight is up 2 pounds. I have found that this seems to be the case with me when I have alcohol but don't cheat and have carby foods with the alcohol. If I have bad food I will be up about 5 pounds.

The day after I have the alcohol my weight is not up or sometimes I will to appear to lose, got away with it right.... This I believe is due to the dehydrating effect of alcohol. The next day my weight is always up a few pounds. I am not upset I knew that this is what would happen when I made the decison to endulge in drinks for my birthday with friends. I just thought I would record what my observations are after drinking.

This is why I endulge in alcohol rarely while in the weight loss phase...It will probably take a week or maybe 2 to get back to where I was...good thing only one birthday a year

Of course this may not be everyone's experience with drinking alcohol but I thought I would share this with someone who may want to know what my experiences have been.

Re: Drinks/alcohol for my birthday celebration

Crazy, but last year when I lost 30 pounds doing Atkins (well, I thought it was atkins, I watched carbs and calories and didn't read the book, was on another site ...etc.) anyway, I used to have miller light every Sunday (Race day) but I hardly ate ...600-800 calories a day for 4 months!! I did loose consistantly with drinking 4-5 miller lights once a week (I did dance alot then though) ...

I couldn't get under 120 and got fustrated (because I knew I couldn't lower my calories anymore...so stupidly instead of buying the book I ate...sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers ...Never real ice cream (I like carbsmart) though or cookies or desserts...just pasta and bread ...and gained 20 plus back!! and here I am again...

I carry around "The Book" and carb counter in my purse, I have had 2-3 Miller lights just in the past week (Daytona 500) ....and its coming off very slowly this time around, I feel like my calories (1200) may be too high for my height, but the percentages are good and carbs are 17-25 a day...so I'm going for slow and forever this time...

        Sorry so long...
