Cholesterol ?

I never did my blood work pre-Atkins so I have no baseline. I didn't know this would be the time I would be successful. LOL I had my bloodwork done last week and these are the results.

Total 224, LDL 146

They said in the letter that the cholesterol # is slightly high, but the good cholesterol is very high. I thought they were testing for one other number too, but it is not listed on the letter they sent me. (trigylcerides?)

Results of all other blood work is normal.

I see my doctor next week. I'm just wondering what your thoughts are when you see these numbers. Is it ok?

It sounded like they weren't concerned in the letter because my good cholesterol is so high.

Can you find out what your HDL (good cholesterol) is?? I'd love to give you the ratios .. but have to know that number ..

HDL is 78 then, right?

Actually the total is computed by HDL + LDL + 1/5 of triglycerides ..

I called to get my triglycerides to add to my totals and they told me 43. Am I missing another number or is the HDL the same as trigylcerides? What does this mean?
