Re: Eggs for Breakfast
Who says you can only eat breakfast foods for breakfast? There is a lot more than bacon and eggs out there!
What about leftovers from dinner for breakfast if you need something quick?

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
(I just realized the mock danish and pancakes might not be the healthies thing on earth, so here's some other ones!
This is what I do when I want oatmeal:
1/4 cup flax seed meal
1/2 cup vanilla whey protein powder
salt
1-2 tablespoons of wheat or oat bran
2/3 cup water
or muffins too:
3 eggs
1 1/2 sticks butter melted
1 c Protein Powder
3/4 c Splenda
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c water
1/2 cup syrup, flavor of your choice (like DaVinci or Torani)
1 c flax seed meal
Preheat oven to 350. Beat eggs and add melted butter. While beating add (one by one) Protein Powder, Splenda, baking powder and salt. Beat well. stir in syrup, water and flaxseed meal. Put in greased muffin tin and bake 25 minutes.

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
Just a note on the recipes Pineapple that they aren't Induction acceptable (too high in Flax), but they are good examples at what OWL'ers can eat for breakfast. I am more the eat anything for breakfast. If it is good for lunch or dinner, it is better for breakfast. It might not be traditional, but it works for me.Kent - 35-M-6'4"

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
Just a food history side note....
In 17th and 18th century America (when we were still British colonies) eggs were eaten daily, but they weren't a "breakfast" food. Colonial breakfasts consisted of cold meat and porridge. Eggs became a "breakfast" food during the 19th century.~Megs~

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
thanks for the ideas.......he just doesn't like anything but meat! and if he thinks it isn't a "breakfast" food, he won't eat it for breakfast.....he is stubborn, just like his mom
this morning we did BLT's........using lettuce leaves instead of bread......he seemed to like that......SW 186/ CW 177/ GW 130

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
my kids used to call eggs "Cackleberries"
personally I adore them and find them to be comfort food ..but like anything else I try to not eat the same thing over and over again....to get the optimal amt of nutrition and variety ...
another thing I like is to take jicama slice it thin and roll it around cheese for breakfast ..any cheese is fine ...
or if you like you can do a modified BLT by taking a big jicama and slice it in 1/4 inch slices ...put some bacon, lettuce tomato and even cheese on top and then broil until the cheese melts put another slice of jicama on top.... it is really good!

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
When I was a kid, there was a little diner nearby. This place looked like a run-down shack on the outside and on the inside. Anyhow, it used to serve breakfast: 2 eggs cooked anyway with your choice of bacon, ham, fried pork chop, fried steak, salmon cake, and a side of your choice: toast and jam, 2 waffles, 2 pancakes, or grits. Ditch the starchy stuff and you had a pretty good Atkins breakfast.
I eat leftovers frequently for breakfast: pork chops, grilled chicken, chicken legs, turkey breast, etc. It's fast and easy. A side of veggies like turnip fries (recipe I use is in the recipe section of DANDR 2002), jicama sticks, lettuce, celery, etc. are great with that.
Also take a look in the 14 Day Induction Forum. There is a sticky post called "Induction Recipe Basics" that has a few recipes that might be useful to you.

Re: Eggs for Breakfast
How old is he by the way?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
