I would appreciate some advice from some of you that work out alot.
I don't have a lot of weight to loss but I have been going to the gym for 6 months and I work out with weights 3 times a week for 1 hr and the other 2 days I do cardio for 45 minutes. I know I have gained a lot of muscle but I don't seem to be losing at all and I follow the diet pretty good.

This this normal or should I be losing more weight. I see pictures like from tt driver and I know she works out alot but how long should it take to start seeing results with extensive workout sessions.

    Thanks

    Hey Bear,
First of all, congratulations on your workout regemin!!!

Secondly, did you take measurements before you started? It's likely that you have replaced a lot of fat with muscle, which has negated the loss in inches, but I bet you are a whole lot healthier than when you started this program!

You could post a sample diet here to let people know what may be going wrong, but my real guess is that you aren't doing poorly. Remember, it's not all about lbs!!!

Original goal: Lose 30 lbs by Mar. 1st, 2006. I made it!!!

Calling it GOAL at this point. I'm happy with where I am now and hope to stay there, or maybe even take it down a little more.

Rick is right; its not just about the lbs or the scale ..

That said .. please post a typical day's menu. Also, how much weight do you have to lose? How much water are you drinking? What about supplements?

Perhaps you need to ramp up your cardio to 3 or more days a week? If you've been working out regularly for quite awhile, you should be able to add more intensity/time to cardio which will burn overall body fat. What kind of cardio are you doing now?

If you replace 1 pound of fat with 1 pound of muscle, you won't see a difference on the scale. But health-wise, it's better to have 1 pound gain of muscle than it is to have a 1 pound gain of fat.

If you can get your body fat analyzed, do so, because that will give you a more accurate idea of how much fat you have lost than a regular old scale.

This could be your problem.. What exactly does that mean? If you are eating a bag of potato chips every third day but following Atkins the rest of the days, that could be an issue.. haha.. I would just elaborate on that, there could be something you are eating that slows down your loss.

welcome back Bear. good to see youy are working out great.

As the others said have you measured? they shouldbealble to measure your body fat at the gym too and you can se if you are adding muscle mass and fluids while you are shedding fat mass. Morphing our bodies is what Atkins does.

Are you overeating your Atkins?Taking yoour needed supplements and vits? If not have you seen your doc to rule out any medical issues. just getting deficient in something like calcium can stop weight loss cause the body reacts with chems that interfer with metabolim as it restores calcium thought bone depletion.

              Re: fitness

thanks everyone for your help I guess I will have to have a my body fat checked at the gym. I am 5:3 and I weight 130 now and would like to get down to 120 pds.

I am running on the treadmill for 45 minutes non stop and other days the ellipical trainer for 30 and run for 15 minutes.

I don't take any suppliments. Any suggestions on what I should take.
Does anyone have any experience with protein powders?

My usual day's meal consists of two cups of coffee with cream
              Breakfast -egg fried in butter.

snack a few almonds or a bit of natural peanut butter
Lunch. Salad with tuna or salmon with mayo
Supper: Fish or chicken I try not to eat in the evenings. If I'm really hungry I will have a few slices of lunch meat. I try not to eat in the evenings.

Maybe I'm just being too impatient or unrealistic about 120pds.
              Thanks

                  Re: fitness

yep what Betty said most of the supplements needed are actually contained in the healthy induction 3 cups of veggies if you chose wisely. if not at the very least follow Dr Atkins recomendation in your DANDR and get a good multi Vit and mineral.

Yep get your body fat measured to make sure you haven't already reached a healthy stopping point. I zipped past mine and strugglred 6 more months looking for that elusive scale number goal.

                  Happy low carbing
