  • Food Expos

First things first- completely unrelated, I just turned down a girl scout cookie.

Now onto the original stuff.... We have an IL PRoducts Expo being held this weekend. Basically its all products that are made and produced in Illinois. I have gone every year i have lived here and loved it. The vendors hand out small samples of their products for everyone to try and some places have items available for purchase! I think Im going to go this year. There wont be alot thatI can sample but there will be places that have organic cheeses and organic meats. Others have non-food items like candles, lotions etc. Has anyone here gone to a food expo while they were early on in their Atkins journey? Ifyou went in with strong will pwer, were you able to stick to your plan and be strong? I planon eating before I go so Im not HUNGRY and just enjoying the things Im able to sample and the atmosphere of the event. Myhardest part willbe the wine sampling. Im not a wino but I love one of the local wineries, I just wont even visit the area its helped. THey hand out shot size samples of wine so while it wouldnt kill me, Imnot there yet on this WOL. Ive got a plan and Im planning on staying with it.

That sounds like fun. Maybe you'll discover a new, great food product that fits with your Atkins! Then you'll have to tell us all about it!

I didn't go to a food expo, but I went to a Renissance Festival and did just fine, but yes, the wine was hard to resist!

I've never been to a food expo, but I've been to street fairs, country fairs, medieval fairs, colonial America fairs, etc. since I've been on Atkins. There was one country fair where I was able to sample the most delicious organic goat cheese and cheddar. AT another fair, I was able to sample some herbal teas.

Don't be afraid to ask questions about the food and stick to the legal foods. You might want to pack a little container of legal snacks too, just in case, you can't find anything legal.

Food expo, no. Consumer electronics expo, yes. Thankfully all the chips there aren't edible (and are way expensive!).
