I thought all the fat was in the yolk? Aack, fitday must hate me for all the refreshing I'm putting it through! If there's more fat in the white then I guess I can only use one egg, I'm going to see what the chart looks like.

a suggested meal for the MF is 2 eggs scrambled with 2 stips of bacon so 2 eggs and 2 ounces of cream cheese comes out to the same protein fat ratio

Thanks for helping me out, I think I'm overthinking things.

Something else I should add about today is that my thirst returned! 50 ounces downed before noon!

Turned out that I like my protein! No near-death bowel movements, but the puffiness did last for about a third of the day or so.

                  I noticed you're up 3 pounds (from last week's stat of 145).

LMAO! Why yes, yes I am! Want to know why? It has nothing to do with this! Woke up this morning after a graze fest of atkins whole foods yesterday. It was about 2200 calories, lots from fat. I hadn't been plugging into fitday. I wake up 5lbs heavier, go to the bathroom, three pounds. Thanks for pointing it all out

I think this was a rather fun experiment. And I think it had no harm in it...rock on girl!

I have a HORRIBLE time with sugar alcohols. I cramp up like crazy, and spend the rest of my evening on the toilet. They are EVIL and should be avoided like the plague! (Speaking from experience, I've done this 4 times now....and have finally vowed that I've learned my lesson, that my body does not like them!)

To gain 1 pound of fat you need to eat 3500 calories (from fats or protein or carbs). So it really doubtful that one day of eating 2200 calories will add on 3 pounds of fat over night.

As for the "harm" done, you are now 8 pounds away from your goal, rather than 5 pounds. Granted, "harm" is relative and depends on how one defines it for themselves. But since the closer you get to goal the slower the weight loss is generally, it looks like quite a bit of 'harm' has been done.

Or you could drink a gallon and gain eight pounds water weight in a day. The food most likely containmed much more sodium than I usually have, because I'm 147 now and two pounds away from goal. I went to the doctor the yesterday and found my ideal weight. Also, I do have slow thyroid. If you have any other comments please pm me instead.

I thought it was interesting. Those atkins bars and drinks wave at me everytime I take a trip down the aisle. So far this go around I have have turn my nose up at them, but it is interesting to see what "harm" they actually do or how they effect people differently. I have always been suspicious of net carbs verses real carbs. I will be checking back to see how it goes!

The water drinking question is an interesting one and I'm sure the other members of ADBB have the same question.

We have kidneys. They are responsible for regulating the water in our body. If you have normal functioning kidneys, then what happens is this: The water you take in, is absorbed in your gut. This introduces it into your blood. It circulates through your blood vessels and eventually gets to your kidneys. Through a series of filtering, the kidneys remove the excess water from your circulatory system and you excrete it out.

Water is also removed, though in smaller amounts, through other bodily functions like breathing and sweating. So if you aren't dehydrated and you drink 1 cup of water, you can expect that one cup of water to be excreted out again over a few hours. Again, as long as have you have normal functioning kidneys drinking "alot" of water over the course of a day would most likely not contribute to water retention.

Additionally, water retention can be due to things like low protein, and heart failure.

The thing about the salt and water retention is kidney function related. So by increasing the amount of water drunk, it helps to remove the excess salt and water retained by the salt, not contribute to it (unless the kidneys are diseased.)

Anyhow, good for you for seeing your doctor. Dr. Atkins recommended that we all see our doctor before beginning the diet and during our weight loss phases.
