    Ok, so I have been following atkins to the letter (I could be working out more,I hit the gym 3x's a week) and I am down 17 jiggly ,ugly, unhealthy pounds as of today 3/2/06 and I am thrilled. I started 2/1/06. I feel gret and look a little better, but the loss is not showing in my measurements very much at all!! has anyone else ever experienced this type of issue ( not a problem, because # are #'s)? Is there such thing as an inches wooshie??? My TOM is due to arrive in a week. Any insight would be greatly welcome!!! Thank you all again for the support, without you all and this board i would still be stuffing my face with taquitos and white zinfandel!!! Hugs all around!!

    Terrific job!!!

    As for the inches .. are you doing any kind of cardio? Its the best way to burn overall body fat and make you 'shrink' ...

      Thnks so much for the reply and support Betty! Great job on the marathon, that is an amazing accomplishment, you should be very proud of yourself!! As for the cardio question, I have been doing about 45 min on the eliptical 3x a week at the gym. I also play tennis and raquetball a few times a week for about 1 1/2 hours each time. I read somewhere that when fat cells shrink they sometimes hang on to water ( lord knows I am drinking enough of it 120+ oz/day) , but I would have thought that after a month they would release it! I think I need to amp up the cardio, I may also start swimming because it is a total body type workout.

        COngrats on the great job you are doing.

        you have lost lots of inches just not where you are measuring. next time you are in the store put 17 boxes of butter in your cart and see how many inches you have actually lost.

          I have gone through this seems when I lose Pounds I don't lose inches when I losr inches I don't lose POUNDS you are doing AWEOSME 17 POUNDS ROCKS!!! Yup I agree with 21 big Probably just measuring in spots that don't show an inche loss you Body goes in cycles when it loses weight be patient the inches will come

            You're doing fantastic. Congratulations! I find that sometimes it takes a while for the scale to catch up with the inches. Maybe the reverse is true too and your tape measure will catch up with your scales! Either way, you're shrinking and getting healthy. Keep up the good work.

              You gotta lose it before you can show it :P I've noticed that this is generally how my weight loss goes.

              Lose lbs --------- Stop losing lbs and suddenly everything seems much looser ------- lose more lbs things stay the same size------->


              And you don't just lose inches in one place ^^ You lose them evenly all over your body. Just keep in there and keep chugging away

                Yes, this is really common. I lose pounds, stay the same for awhile, and then lose inches, stay the same for awhile, etc. Remember you are losing everywhere. I lost in my fingers, wrist, ankles, neck, face etc. Sometimes when I think I haven't lost anything in a long time, someone will say "Wow your face is slimmer every time I see you".

                  I go to the gym every morning, when I do lots of eliptical I've noticed I lose the most inches from my general leg area. Have you measured that too?

                    Thank you all so much for your insight! I am just going to go with the flow and watch what happens, I did notice today when I put on a ring I have not worn it almost fell off of my finger, so that was reassuring. I am so happy with this WOE, I have really put my relationship with foon into a much healthier perspective, so I know the losses will come when my body is ready to give up all the stored fat! I am still in the same size 14's, but they look much better. I am really hoping to be comfotrtable in size 12 pants by April. I have no idea how many pounds are between sizes, but I am on my way!!!! Hugs to all of you, thank you for the support. Without all of you I would be sittin here a much heavier girl!!! XOXOXO
