  • Is Boot Camp for me?

I apologize if I'm putting this in the wrong place. Please move it if necessary.

I've been on Atkins since Jan. 2. I have periods where I am discouraged, but I did a clean induction already and have not cheated since the beginning of this journey, so that's good. I am currently at what I'm calling a mini stall. I hear such good things about Boot Camp and I'm wondering, even though I can do a clean induction with no problems, if the lessons learned and the total commitment to BC will help me at the point where I am. I noticed that a new one is coming up soon. When the announcement comes, would I even be considered to join?

    Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Check out this forum for the answers you seek!

    Boot Camp

There are stickies in there for FAQ's etc, and how you qualify.

I was a Drill Assistant for the first time this last Boot Camp. IT IS TOUGH! The drill instructors have to be tough! Please remember that if you do qualify, it is a DAILY commitment to be there and do what is asked of you, and that means EVERY day. It's 2 weeks of strict induction with exercise expected. Anyone who is considering it should understand that the drill instructors care, and that is WHY they are tough. They should also understand that it's tough LOVE, not harrassment. Boot Camp is separate from the rest for many many good reasons. You will be motivated, helped and under the thumb of a loving, but strict person for 2 weeks. ARE YOU READY?! Can you commit and be accountable to someone else?

It's a great experience, and really helps you to focus on the plan.

I agree with Jas though, it's a commitment ... so if you have the time to dedicate for 2 weeks, I strongly suggest you apply!

Re: Is Boot Camp for me?

the question is what phase are you in now? if you are in OWL it is pointles to go back to induction for 2 weeks cause your stall issue is in OWL and that would be where you need to focus your attention to figure out if you are going anything wrong.
if you are doing extended induction you might want to move to OWL and add more of those healthy nutrient dense induction veggies to see if you are stalled cause you are nutriant deficieant as when our bodies don't have enough of cay calcium they produce chems to fix that drawing calcium from the reserves in the body but that chem to fix the calcium needs effects weight loss stopping it. there are many mnay nutrients like that that if we are lacking we stop losing and induction is a very difficlt place to get them.

Hope you figure out your stall and get things moving.

Re: Is Boot Camp for me?

I've added more of the induction veggies so I'm not really sure where I am. I guess based on that I can consider myself as being on OWL Rung 1, but then again these past couple of weeks I haven't gotten those extras in, so I can also consider myself to be on extended induction. I just don't know how to answer that. I don't know if moving on faithfully will help me or if I do need to start again, only with more knowledge of what it is I'm doing, how it all works and why. I'm feeling a little lost and don't know what to do.

Re: Is Boot Camp for me?

so you are having focus issues? they will make you work but the only way for you to be a success is to want to work for yourself not cause a DS and DA are on you about it. intermal motivation will make you a loser external will make you a repeat loser cause you can't stay on task. so what is your motivation? do youhave a written set of reason why you wanted to do Atkins to become a smaller healtheir you? if so do they still apply?
if you don't how about making one and see if you really want to do this.

Re: Is Boot Camp for me?

Thanks 2big. My motivations are still the same and since I'm still not cheating, I guess I'm doing ok. I've reread different parts of DANDR and I don't think I'll be signing up for boot camp. I don't think it'll give me anything that I don't already have. I'm doing a journal and keeping track of my food. I have my reasons and motivations down on paper (real paper ) and I have a bunch of things stuck to the fridge. I'm surprised I haven't cheated at all, but when I started this time I told myself that I was dead serious this and I will not screw this up for anything. I already feel better than I did yesterday and I lost another pound! So I will keep trudging along until I can get to that point when I can run at a brisk pace. Thank you so much.
