  • Pizza Torture!!!!

I almost cheated today!! I came so close, I even had the pizza slice in my hand!!!
Ok, how this whole thing started was my DH and his brother went out to dinner, so I got a pizza for the kids so I wouldn't have to cook for them. I made myself eggplant with chicken and Carbsolutions Alfredo sauce. It was yummy and filled me up. I fed the kids at the same time and I was fine. Then, I was sitting on the couch watching 'King of the Hill' and that pizza started calling my name!! I had myself all talked into why it would be ok to cheat once, and how it wouldn't really hurt me, and blah blah blah. So I am standing there with the slice in my hand, and I couldn't do it!!! I want to be thin and healthy more than I wanted that stupid pizza!! I put the leftover pizza in a ziplock bag, and ate a string cheese and a small Slimjim and that cured the craving.
That was the worst craving I have ever had! It was almost like a physical need to have that pizza.
Moral of the story, if a weak baby like me can say no, you can too!!!!!

Good job! I know exactly what you mean about having it in your hand. Did the smell of it effect you, do you think? Some people (like me) have a much harder time when certain smells are in the air. They just drive us nuts! Try some chromium picolinate, take it in the morning at least 2 hours after any other prescriptions you take, and if you feel like you need it, one later in the afternoon if you feel a craving coming on. Sometimes heading them off before you get them is a good strategy, and I swear by the stuff, I can always tell when I don't take it.

          Re: Pizza Torture!!!!

Thanks for the support!! I do take CP every morning. I think it was because I could smell it, I knew it was there, and I was watching one of my favorite TV shows. That combo spells trouble!!!
I think its because I was hanging out by myself (the kids were eating in my sons room and playing video games) and I always used to eat when I was keeping myself company. Not in a depressed way, but in a 'I'm on my own I can do whatever I want' kind of way. At least now I know what triggered it. I made it!!! Thanks everyone!

I totally agree with the 'smell' factor...it might sound silly...I'd use Oust (or something similar) so 'change' the smell to something citrus-y instead of the carb treat of the moment!

And hey, Sunflowergrl, good for you on staying strong!!! That's great!!

              Re: Pizza Torture!!!!

If we order pizza for the kids my husband always orders a "meat toppers" pizza with light sauce (which their light sauce = really no sauce). He then just takes off the top part of the pizza. It's funny to open up the box and see all those naked slices of pizza.

What wonderful advice. I so agree about the smell factor. It can start by seeing repeated Pizza Hut commercials, and your brain starts saying that looks good, and then to smell a pizza drives you nuts. In the past I have given in to pizza cravings, but for me it never tastes as good as you think it might. I agree with 2Big, that its all part of carb addiction, and our subconscience is trying to sabotage us to feed its craving.

When I quit smoking, I did so well, and then after about 3 months the cravings would return with a vengance. I might see someone smoking in a film and then I would walk past someone smoking and my brain was like "I remember that smell, I WANT THAT...I NEED THAT...MUST HAVE THAT" Of course, if you give in, it doesn't meet your expectations (that first puff tastes awful) but the addictive behaviour has taken over.

We tend to save leftovers, but with our trigger foods, that can be the kiss of death. Someone posted some great advice last year, if you have leftover trigger foods, cover them with dishwashing liquid, the food will stop speaking to you immediately.

Rikki, I'm so glad you are back on track today. It's nice that your coworkers made the cake for you, but 2Big is right, if they had known about your WOE they may have made something legal, or bought you a nice scarf or something.
