  • Dinner Party Fast Approaching

    I am going to a "jack and jill" party on Friday. It's an alternative to a bachelor and bachelorette party. It's at an Irish pub where there will obviously be alcohol and all sorts of badness. i will be on day five and I am not going to cheat. I'm not drinking. The good thing is there a re a few people attending who never drink, so I won't stand out, except for the fact that i do normally drink, but i'm not concerned. It's $35 a person, so I'm assuming the menu will be certain items or it will be buffet style. Either way, I printed the pocket sized food list and I'm going to have my morning and two mid-day meals a little spread out so that if the fare at the pub is not going to work, I won't pass too much time not eating. Any other suggestions?

    Dont worry, I'm sure there will be atkins ok food at the buffet.Just stick to the protein and you'll be ok.good luck.

      you can also eat alittle before going. That way, if there isn't any 'legal' food you won't be starving.

        You could take some mini pepperoni (pepperettes) and baby bel cheese in your purse. They don't need to be refridgerated. Drink lots of water while you're there, and try to avoid diet soda because that may set off some cravings. You'll do fine.

          my aunt...who is not on atkins....does something at parties and such that really helps her from not eating...
          she keeps herself busy....most of us just plop down and chat by the food...she however makes sure that she isn't near the food..she walks around and socializes and such and this way she isn't tempted to eat as much...
          at a bar i would say spend less time sitting and more time mingleing....not only is this good diet tech it's also good party manners

            I feel your stress on this, I am going to a Arena Football game Friday, and of course my friends meet up a couple hours before the game at a bar for drinks and food. I don't mind not drinking because I give it up for Lent every year, but eating will be tough. I scoped out the bars menu and they do make " naked " chicken wings so it looks like wings and water for me. I'll get through it I have come to far to trip up.

              eat some stuff before going to take the edge off your hunger. then try to pick things that aren't breaded or sauced to eat. Veggies at a pub? or you know, have some emergency bacon in your pocket just in case , have fun !

                  You can also call ahead to the pub and just ask what kind of food will be served. That way you know exactly what to expect, what to bring and how much to eat before you go!

                    I found out they will be serving shell steak, chicken, and salmon with various sides, so I'll ask for which ever plain with veggies. Good to go.

                          It was a good time. I had a salad, picking out the things i shouldn't have, with blue cheese dressing, a nice steak and broccoli. It was a lot easier than I thought. When we first walked in there were pitchers of beer and carafes of wine that were looking at me longingly, but once i had water i was good to go. Alot easier than I expected.
