Re: My mom can also do atkins or not?
I dont see why not if she wants to
At about 160 pounds she probably has some fat she might want to lose.
and age is no bar to success - I was 53 when I started and my DH was 72.
And many people find the Atkins WOE lowers blood pressure too.
Has she said she wants to learn more about Atkins after seeing your results, or will she need 'persuading' ?
If she has doubts about following the rules maybe you can act as her 'support team' and help her plan her meals, but no-one can make anyone succeed at Atkins if they are not committed themself.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I'm also 42 and I also have never felt better in my life! My bp is normal, my cholesterol is normal, and my sugar levels are now normal.
Point her in our direction, we'd be thrilled to help her!

Re: My mom can also do atkins or not?
Do you have a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution that you could let her read? You can buy them online easily. There is a link at the top of the page called 'Books' where you can order one.
Although nothing is better than reading the information written by the expert (Dr Atkins) , in the absence of 'the book' you could look at all the FAQ's in the 'Frequently asked questions' Forum here (click on the link 'FAQ' at the top of the page.)
The rules for induction and the list of foods are spelled out clearly there as well as much useful information about the various aspects of Atkins.
Also the sticky threads at the top of the other forums like induction and OWL forums have lots of info and advice on following the stages correctly.
However she would be much better off by reading 'the book' as it explains the theory of how this woe works and is well written and a 'good read'.
BTW following the woe 'to a T' means following it exactly according to the book without making adaptations because there are some foods you dont like or prefer to the recommended ones.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I started at 52 and my blood pressure has gone from stratospheric to normal (see signature). My Mum is also starting it and she is 80! Tell her to go for it, it will lower her BP and she will feel great!Odille
