Hi everyone! I am looking for a good crunchy snack and was wondering about celery. I am into day 4 of atkins program and am finding it very hard finding something good to snack on. I was thinking Celery and cream cheese would be pretty good together, lol

Re: Celery, good or bad?
Celery and cream cheese are fine as long as you stay within your induction limits. Celery falls in the Salad vegetables which allows 2-3 cups per day and on induction you are allowed 3-4oz of cheese per day.************************************************** ******************

celery is a trigger food for me but to measure it you can use a 2 cup measuring cup with one cup of water in it and add your celery. it will displace an amount of water equal to its volume which is what you are measuring in cups. or you can weigh ti in grams and use the USDA site to know how many cups your veggie is.by the book atkinseer

Re: Celery, good or bad?
I never worried about celery in my "cups". Each stalk has approx. 1 net carb each. Not bad for something that takes more calories to eat than it actually has!!!
I would worry more about the cream cheese than the celery.
Enjoy the celery-just be very sparingly with the "hard stuff-high calorie fats!205/120/150

Celery is very good, like TTdriver said, it contains a lot of water! As for the cream cheese..I would be careful with that. I noticed when I started eating a lot of it during the week, I stalled right away!!! I know the book says you are allowed 3-4 ounces, but I'm just letting you know
Another suggestion is mayo...mmmm that always tastes good with celery!

I second the mayo/celery combination too!! When I started induction it was a regular snack for me - I chopped the celery into small pieces and mixed it with mayo plus some psyllium husks when I was having 'bathroom problems'.
After reaching OWL I also used to add a few cherry tomatoes for a really quite sweet taste!
And with the addition of a couple of ounces of crumbled blue cheese or chopped ham it makes a great 'on the go' picnic meal!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Re: Celery, good or bad?
I love celery, it makes a good substitue for bread esp for lunches. I like to eat it with tunafish, egg salad. creamchese + herbs/spices or even just plain for a crunchy snack. I used to slice it up and keep it in a container with water to keep it from turning brown and keep it crispy (my new fridge now will prolly freeze it into a block at its warmest setting.. go Navy housing!)

Great ideas, Sashie!!Originally posted by SashieI like to eat it with tunafish, egg salad. creamchese + herbs/spices or even just plain for a crunchy snack.
But try not to have any of your veggies as a snack on their own, always have some fat with them to even out possible sugar spikes!Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
