  • Cut off Time for food

Okay, I was wondering, do you guys usually set a time, say 8 pm, where you eat nothing after that??

I am a major eater at night, and I cannot stomach foods before noon. Really weird,eh? My schedule is kinda screwy, so this works for me.

What time do you guys stop eating for the night??

Re: Cut off Time for food

I normally try to have dinner by 7pm and nothing more to eat after 8pm.

But.....Some days if I dont manage to fit my three square meals in I found I snacked. So on these days I eat a can of tuna and some celery whenever I feel hungry to stop myself snacking.

Old me was midnight snacks, new me is midnight tuna snack!

I don't have a cut off time either. Generally I don't seem to need a snack, but it does make me feel better to know that if I felt I needed one, I could go ahead and have something legal and tasty. In the beginning few months I almost always had a snack because I was re-learning how and how much to eat. But after a few months I found I rarely needed anything.
Knowing I'm allowed to eat when I'm hungry is one of the main things that has helped me through these last two years.

If I'm just starving for nourishment, I'll eat something regardless of the time - and I've never seen any gains this way. However, I prefer not to eat something ultra-heavy after a certain time at night, simply because I am just not crazy about the way it feels the next morning. When I wake up with an empty stomach, I literally bounce out of bed.

I think it depends on your body habits, more than anything else. I can't eat after 8 PM, because I'll be up all night with an upset stomach.

Re: Cut off Time for food

What I did is I made a "rule" to finish up with dinner 3 hours before I plan to go to bed., so it varies from weekdays to weekends, but this way I don't go to bed with a full stomach.

I eat wherever I'm hungry so some nights it is late and others it isn't.

Re: Cut off Time for food

I have no cut-off time for food, but I do stop drinking water 2 hours before bedtime (whenever it happens to be on a given night), and I've gotten so I don't like to eat food unless I have water with it, so it ends up being limiting that way.

I usually don't want breakfast either. I just eat if I am hungry or if I know it will be a while before I am around legal food again. Seems lately I haven't been hungry at night either. I have been dealing with some cravings but that's a whole other story!
