  • Has Anyone Else Experienced This????

oK, i know your supossed to be patient, but has anyone lost and than gained, lost and than gained???????
I have to tell you.........this is the most discouraging lifestyle I have ever seen.
I do a clean induction week one, loose 7.5lbs........wow.......thinking this is so awesome........I go another week, clean induction......only to gain and than finally by weeks end loose .5lb .So I think ok......take what advice I was given "up my water intake", "loose the diet colas".......ok.....did that and now I have gained back 3lbs of what I lost first week. How can this be a diet that encourages you to keep going? Is it just me......am I just destined to remain overweight? And no......its not my time of the month or muscle gain.
If theres someone out there..........who is experiencing the same thing....I could use some "light at the end of the tunnel" right about now.I am pretty close to giving up.....cos frankly......if I am gonna spend so much time making sure I do everything right.......only to gain weight........well I could do that eating cake too.HEELLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!

Please stay off the scale. Weight fluctuation is perfectly normal and yes, it happens to everyone. You can go down complete sizes on Atkins and show no movement of the scale whatsoever.

Please go to the induction forum and read all the stickys there and take them to heart.

Atkineers are not scale slaves. Trust your tape measure and trust how your clothing is fitting.

Please stay on Atkins for a good 6 months before coming to any final conclusions.

I feel your pain and frustration Diva
But some people's bodies take time to decide to give up the fat and maybe yours is one of those reluctant to give in!

Did you take measurements when you started induction? Do your clothes feel looser? Lots of people report loss of inches without weightloss as their body is redistributing itself and replacing fat lost with muscle which is much smaller for the same weight!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: Has Anyone Else Experienced This????

Are you exercising?? If not, this may be part of the problem. Please don't give up, cake is not the answer. This WOL is more than just how much the scale says you weigh. It is also about being healthy, and feeling good. It took us a long time to get to the weight we started this WOL on, so doesn't it make sense it may take a little time to take that off?? I understand how upset you are, I have been stuck at 165 for two weeks, but my clothes are fitting better, and I think I found why I am not losing. I have been eating too many Pork Rinds, so this morning I threw them in the trash. Have you looked at what you have been eating? Are you getting enough veggies in? There are many reasons why the scale isn't saying what you want it to. Why don't you try staying off the scale for two weeks, and just go by your measurements and how your clothes are feeling. Think about how long you have been at a weight you don't like, aren't you worth at least half that time to give this a real shot?
What would we do without it?

        Mini-goal- 149 by June 1st. I can do it!!!

Yes, there's a light! Now, I'll admit the scale has caused so much "overthinking" on my part ... and overthinking leads to stress, which leads to frustration, which leads to cake (well, cookies for me), which leads to guilt, etc. etc. etc. I know where you are. Don't do it!

Here's the encouragement you need -- at least I hope. When I did previous diets, I got to a certain weight (140) and then my body fought and fought and fought. Looking at my weight log, I bounced around in this range for more than three months when doing low fat two years ago. With Atkins I had the same issue -- bounced around at 140, 141, back to 140, blah blah blah . Kept going and then boom -- 137. Light at the end of the tunnel! (And it only took three weeks, not three months). Just look at all the success stories on the board. They probably bounced around too. But they kept going, because the end result is what matters, not the bumps in the road along the way.

The more you weigh yourself, the more frustrated you'll get. Don't let that hunk of metal drive you to cake.

Re: Has Anyone Else Experienced This????

Ok, I have heard most of these thoughts before......I have read and reread most posts and stickys, however, my clothes fit the same,I'm not staying the same.....I am GAINING, and unfortunately I put the bulk of my weight on in 2months.

I will try to exercise more........but I guess the problem is, that if you go on a diet to loose, than you should loose, not fluctuate all over the place.IF you look at this, I am only taking in 20carbs and gaining.....so what, I am supossed to go even lower and cut out more vegetables? How am I to move to Owl, how am I too maintain if it does come off?I have stuck to induction to the tee.NO aspertame, lots of water, no going over 20 carbs............and gaining?
Now if the weight doesnt go down.........how to you expect to be smaller in size?Does the fat move around, cos its still there.Your not gonna meet someone who is 210lbs wearing a size 10........aint gonna happen.
This whole process is really confussing me.Some women loose 20lbs in 2 months, yet I gain on this diet.
I just want to know if theres anyone who has gained like I have........not 1lbs here, one lb there........I'm talking going from 209 one week to 213.5 the next.........thats ridiculous. That means the food I am eating is adding fat to my body.ITs not water, not TOM , not muscle......but fat.How do you explain this?I have posted my meals, and they were always responded with being ok , just add water or limit pop intake, which I did all this week and gained.

I know I sound harsh, but to put this much effort into this and have it fail is very disturbing to me.
Perhaps this diet just doesnt always work...........could that be the truth?

Re: Has Anyone Else Experienced This????

You aren't gaining weight, you are simply fluctuating. I generally go up and down like four pounds in a week befor egoing down at all. Yet still when you add up those last 9 weeks, I am down nearly 23 pounds. I am one of those people who weighs every morning, yes I admit it. BUT, I do it because I find it interesting...not because I judge every little detail by it.

If you were up a pound a week for a month or something like that, I would ask you to post a menu or whatever. But going up and down over the course of a week is so typical that I wouldn't even worry about it unless you know you have gone off plan. (Even then, you just have to start all over.)

Can't wait to read about your whoosh!

Re: Has Anyone Else Experienced This????

I've been fluctuating with the same 5 stinking pounds for the last 3 weeks. I'm not cheating. I'm drinking my water. I'm exercising. Last month it was a different 5 pounds. It's frustrating, but it will pass. Some of us just take a little longer than others.

Don't weigh every day and when you do weigh, do it once a week in the morning after you use the bathroom and before you dress. Now I don't follow my own advice about this and I can tell you that I wish I could. The first time I did Atkins, I did follow this advice and I was pleasantly surprised and happy each week.

I've wanted to give up a lot this time around, but I am not willing to blow all I've done so far...even for cake, which I love! I love ME more.

If you're sure that fat isn't being replaced by muscle, that tells me that you're not exercising. Even a short walk around the block or down the country road will help. We have to move to burn the fat. Look at your own stats. You've lost weight!

I really hope that you hang in there because I'd hate to see you coming back here because you have to start all over again like I did. That cake is just not worth it.
