Yeap, I always head to where they are selling the just about to expire. Found sour cream for $.50 last week and I had a coupon. It ended up costing me .25. LOL
I get a whole chicken and cut it up myself. Legs and Thighs go for one meal, breasts for another and the rest go into a soup pot and that lasts me a couple meals. Meal loaf is good for dinner and then sliced cold with catsup for lunch. Cabbage is on sale right now, I found one for 19 cents, not sure what I am going to do with it but some of it will go into the soup pot. I bet after St Patricks day, you can find corned beef on sale. LOL
I sure know where your coming from, while I love being retired, it did cut my income down a lot. LOL
(Have I mentioned lately that Im retired. Humm)

If you don't know where you are going, you will wind up somewhere else. - Yogi Berra
Our local grocery store sells the ready made chickens. If they haven't sold by 7:00 pm they reduce the price drastically. Cheaper than buying a fresh uncooked chicken. You have to check the ingredients though, some have sugar.
I also check the meat that is discounted because it is close to the must sell by date. If you buy it and make it right away it should be fine. I will go to two different stores to get what they have on sale also.
One favorite lunch of mine that is soooo cheap is tuna. I mix it with mayo, and vinegar. I then chop up some celery and mix it in. It is like a big salad.

Well to give you an idea if I want chicken like that well 24 pieces it costs me around 24 dollars unless you go for the drumsticks or chicken wings then they are still fairly pricey for say 20 drumsticks it still around 8-10 dollars, chicken wings run 10 bucks for a BAG. I would love it if chicken were cheaper it's cheaper to buy a HUGE steak then chicken lol.

Totally off topic - but your arms and abs kick a&&!!!!! You look amazing!
Now, on topic! I just bought 20 cans of tuna at my local market for 50 cents a piece! Not bad! I make casseroles on Sunday and eat that way for lunch for the week. I don't know where you live, but if there is a restaurant-supplier warehouse (like Smart & Final in California), you can get some good deals on meat.
Oh thanks for the compliment girl HE HE, that is soo nice of you to say. They ahve a wholesaler I don't like tuna I like Salmon I can get 6 cans for 6 bucks which is cheap for salmon Tuna I can get 6 cans for 3.99
