  • Too lazy for fitday

I'm too lazy lately to put my details into fitday...I use an online carb counter and keep tight control of my menu though.

Waddaya think people? Taking a rest or dancing with disaster on HMS Titanic?

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ICEBERG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Not really...just joshing...(I think!)

I'm not sure what fitday is and what it involves, so I may not be the one to say anything. However, I would think that if you are keeping control of your carbs and menu, then everything should be alright. And of course, exercise, and lots of it.
Wishing everyone confidence and will power,

I don't use fitday to track my carb intake--never have. I keep track of my carbs by jotting the foods and amounts in a notebooks and using a carb counter book.

The only thing I use fitday for is when I adjust recipes.

        Re: Too lazy for fitday

I find fitday is far too fiddly and takes too long. I keep everything in a diary and have a great little carb counter book, it lives beside my chair at the dining table!

I'll occasionally go and check the odd day on fitday, but it's about once every couple of months.

I tried for a few minutes last week and was immediately annoyed.

I was annoyed by FitDay too, initially. But as someone who has been on this lifestyle less than a year, I also feel it's been extremely helpful in keeping me accountable. That annoyingness goes away after using it once or twice, and has allowed me to make more informed choices and even shop better. I think it's worth another shot.

FITDAY ROCKS!!! I never used it...I though....why bother. I started using it about 2 weeks ago....and WOW what a difference. Once you get going it's a piece of cake. You can keep track of your ratios and adjust the menu when necessary. I've made dramatic losses in inches since I started using it. If I didn't see it I wouldn't beleive it. I think it is very much worth the trouble. Good luck.

                Re: Too lazy for fitday

Fitday or not to fitday? That is the question... I'm with not2late, who said she uses it to adjust recipes... My Human Biology course required me to keep a precise food diary for 7 days as part of our digestive system unit, so I used fitday for that but it made me a little paranoid having to mentally track the exact quantities of everything I ate in my head so I could input them when I got a chance (was that 1.5 or 2 tbsp of mayo? is this a 10 or a 12 oz steak? -- phooey to that!), because a lot of the lab involving the diary hinged on caloric intake. Fitday was a nice tool to have for that, but I am admittedly glad that I don't have to use it anymore.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

Oh, I am in love with Fitday!!! I don't think I would be doing anywhere near as good as I am without it. Its really is worth it, and once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take very long. Not to mention, if you slip up its right there in front of you!!! It keeps me on track, but I don't think you will 'Titanic' if you don't use it. LOL
What would we do without it?

I love fitday too, but really it's up to you what system you use to keep track. I think whatever you use, just be consistent.

                      Re: Too lazy for fitday

Last April I gave it up, as I was preparing to go away to Basic Training, and knew I wouldn't have access (or time) for recording. I barely had enough time to eat, some meals - it was cram everything you could into your mouth in five minutes, get dressed and lined up ready to march away again.

Just recently, I started again, although I can see the obsessiveness creeping in again, so much that I write it in a notepad (usually), and then put it in fitday. I don't know if I have a reliable carb counter, but I like the statistics (can you tell I'm a geek?). I then keep track in an Excel spreadsheet of the statistics each day (or every couple of days).

I'm not sure when I'll stop. I'm not sure it has helped anything, as I'm cruising through maintenance, anyway. I was just trying to get a handle on how many carbs, etc., I was having per day.

However, I think I find that I change my eating patterns when I have to record it, because I don't want horrid statistics staring me in the face. Having that record seems to make a difference in my behaviour (or I was changing anyway, and this just confirmed it).

                        Re: Too lazy for fitday

It is very personal taste. When I was losing, I so needed the accountability FitDay provided. It's certainly not for everybody, and it is also seemingly geared to the technical, precise. You can however be successful either way because in the end it all depends upon your ability to guage a cup, an oz, or a measurement of your food intake.

well big bad, was it last week you created that little handy dandy calorie counter thingy, you know what im talking about...lol.
anyway i popped my data in and it said i had to eat 3400 calories to maintain. So i started using fitday again just out of curiousity. Most of the days i fell way below that, at least 1000 less. After the first couple days of using it i did drop a couple pounds. I think mostly because i was now accountable to what i was eating and did i really really want to record every bite i popped in my mouth, and the answer was yes, so i stopped the extra eating a few nuts here a few nuts there. So i'm down to a new low, the weight loss slowed again, as it usually does but i feel better and more controlled about what im eating. The curious thing is i have never gotten close to the 3400 amount to maintain.
eventually i will probably give it up again, its just not something i can see doing for the long run.
