  • Help.

My hair is falling out! This has been going on for a few months now. I thought it was just split ends at first, but it's gotten worse and worse, even after getting a trim. I don't know what to do.
I've read up on what foods could help hair growth.
Anyone going through the same thing? Any advice would be greatly apperciated.

    Re: Help.

Mine is awfulawfulawful falling out too for about a month now. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone! People here say stress and sleep deprivation, but to counter that I'm also taking extra magnesium, biotin, applying jojoba oil to my scalp 2 nights a week, and shampooing with a special formula that's supposed to stimulate hair growth.

Either way, hair loss is part of a natural body cycle and it should stop eventually. Or at least, that's what I'm telling myself to stop from crying while I'm standing in a pile of hair post blow-dry.

Also, it looks like on Myspace that you bleach your hair (maybe?); I'm sure you know that'll definetely do it; any dyes will.

      Re: Help.

When I quit diet coke and coffe, that helped a lot. Also having more proteìn in form of whey protein helps. It might be temporally. Dr. Atkins recommends taking biotin pills in the vitanutrients book. (apples have biotin too)

        Re: Help.

ok, been there myself.Apparently this is quite common during and after large amounts of weight loss.I was told weight loss stimulates new growth, so the old hair falls our and new hair grows in.
I myself cried a few nights.I just managed to do a hair style that covered the bald spots and moved on.Its still thinnner than it once was and I rarely wear it down(looks to wispy and thin),but it looks ok.No one looks at me like I am a freak or anything.HOpefully yours will stop soon and new hair will grow in.

            Re: Help.

I take a vitamin from WAlmart called hair skin and nails...now, being new to this diet I'm not sure if it would help or not, but maybe you should look it up and give it a try. An added bonus is it REALLY creates super-strong nails!

It is the protein int he diet that helps the nails. Mine are now so strong they are unbeleivable. They always used to be thin, peeling and flaking and now I reckon I could undo screw with them! Here are a few sites for herbal stuff for healthy hair and growth:

I've decided to make a doctor's appointment to consult about my hair loss. I'll let you know what I find out.

                  Re: Help.

My sixteen year old stepdaughter thought that her hair was falling out too. But in reality she has tons of blonde highlights and is super dependent on her straightner. This is causing hair breakage, causing her hair to appear and feel super thin. My sister-in-law does our hair and she recommended Back to Basics coconut-mango shampoo and conditioner, rusk sensories briliance grapefruit and honey, leave in color protector and fish oil supplements. It is taking time of course but her hair is steadily becoming more healthy.

                    Re: Help.

B vitamins are the best. Large doses.

Also go to the health food shop and buy some aloe vera. Sometimes it can help stop hair loss if you use it as a shampoo.

                    Hope that helps.

                      Re: Help.

I am a cosmetologist and I get a lot of my friends who have hair loss. Most of them are due to over use of heat in their hair - blow dryers, straighteners etc. If you use these on a daily basis try using some heat protectant in your hair prior to any heated tools. Redken makes one called "Heat Glide" that is good. It coats your cuticles and helps reduce split ends. Also, try not washing your hair every day, the shampoo will really dry it out especially since you color your hair. Go every other day. If you have to wash it every day, try only using a bit of conditioner instead of shampoo every day.
If you want a product to stimulate hair growth try Nioxin.
                      Hope that helps
